The Only World Building Workbook You'll Ever Need: Your New Setting Bible (Series Bibles for Writers)

Thorough and fun
This is pretty incredible and thorough, and working through it is an endeavor all on its own - actually writing a book from it is another thing altogether. I've never worldbuilt and then written before - usually these things happen in tandem with me making recorded notes about certain details, and then missing some and scrambling back through my own writing when I need to double-check something later on. I am excited to try it this way and see if the process doesn't work better for me - maybe I can actually finish something lol...The only way this could be better was if it were spiralbound and organized into sections with tabs so that when you get to the writing process, you can more easily find your details. Also, easier for us lefties to deal with.

It's what I needed
Okay so, it pretty much expects you to write a world similar if not the same as earth. It expects to be placed in one place. Which is fine I can work around that. The words are a lot smaller then I expected, compared to the size it gives plenty of writing space but I write rather big.

Negative Reviews Are People Who Missed the Point
THIS IS NOT A GUIDE, IT IS A WORKBOOK.All of the negative reviews are from people who A: didn’t understand the word “workbook” and/or B: didn’t read the picture that shows the full text of the back of the book. This is a workbook that provides prompts and space to work out those prompts. It DOES NOT TEACH YOU WHAT TO DO, only gives you things to ask about. For example, rather than a book on worldbuilding that says “here is how I create religions for my stories” this book simply includes several sections for you to work, dividing the religion into smaller subcategories such as creation myth and pantheon, so that you can flesh out your world in your own way.Once again, THIS IS NOT A GUIDE, IT IS A WORKBOOK. If you are looking for a guide, you will find it elsewhere, there are plenty of good ones.

Keyword "Work"
This isn't a book you read. When the author says "workbook," she means workbook. I'm very tempted to see if I can develop Scrivener templates of his worksheets, but that's probably against copyright laws. There are things I wish she would have included, but he did include things I've tried to avoid. Over the winter, this is going to be used - one way or another - to prepare myself for my fourth novel and for the series that comes after it - possibly in juxtaposition so that I can see where there are parallels and where there are not.

Ignore the Naysayers, This Workbook poses the questions you need to consider when worldbuilding.
The media could not be loaded. Ignore those butthurt they didn't look more closely at the description before ordering. This isn't a How-to book. It's nearly blank. But it poses questions like, How are careers or vocations chosen? or What is used for currency? or What is a typical hygiene routine? Tiny things that flesh out a world, even if not mentioned in a story, still inform the worldbuilder and later their readers that this world has layers. Dimension. My only complaint is I may need to buy more than one since I have too many worlds clanking around.

I love it. I'm going to get one for my bestfriend too.
This book is amazing. I am a nerd and me and my bestfriend play story time. (Kind of embarrassing to do as adults. lol) But this is perfect structure and guidelines to getting started.

It’s a workbook; not a book; great for beginners
The media could not be loaded. It is a workbook, with very minor instructions or direction. I wished it would provide examples and comparisons. However, as a workbook, it would be helpful to those entering fiction writing for the first time. Again, it is a workbook and I feel those using it would still have to compensate the lack of theory by purchasing a companion book. PS: I hate handwriting. It would be best to get a fillable PDF version where the pages can be typed, revised, and/or printed.

It’s a blank workbook
This is a mostly blank workbook with prompts to create your worlds. The actual content is less than 10% of the page count. The other 90% is blank space for you to write in.Save yourself a few bucks and just buy a notebook.

A Technically Legal Scam
I've seen a number of smug '5-star' reviewers putting the onus of this rort on the buyers, for 'not reading the blurb' or simply missing that it's in the word 'workbook'. Have you Googled 'what is a workbook'? Have you looked at the very first definition of the word in the dictionary? If you had, you'd see what I did before purchasing;noun1. a student's book containing instruction and exercises relating to a particular subject.2. a worker's manual.3. a booklet outlining a course of study.Sure there are other definitions which fit what this workbook actually is (an empty vessel of pages for people to write in), but when there are multiple definitions of something, which vastly differ from each other, it's very important to make the distinction as unambiguous as possible. There are many ways the author could have done this, like showing photos of the actual content inside the pages for example, or at least explicitly stating that there is virtually no semblance of content in it's pages. The fact that there was no attempt at clarity, makes it painfully apparent that the author was intentionally vague and deceitful with their wording and omissions, to prey on those who would be convinced by the reassurance of the flamboyant title."Contents include in-depth..." is the closest the description gets to outright lying to it's audience, as it is a stretch of the imagination to consider anything about the book's prompts to be anything other than rudimentary.Although the money wasted on this book was little concern to me, I feel deeply saddened at the thought of someone less fortunate forking out for this outrageously overpriced, over glorified pile of scrap paper. I hope the author one day wakes up on their bed of money and struggles to stomach their reflection in the mirror."If dignity was money, you could maybe buy a soda".

Misleading title and description
This is a prompt list and nothing else.I was expecting a book that shares ideas on worldbuilding, that observes existing structures and extrapolates useful information from known patterns or even that shares the thought process the author had when creating worlds themselves. Can I use a prompt book? Sure. It seem a good prompt book, if a bit overpriced. But It's really not what I wanted when I bought this book.
