One of the better metronomes.
Hands down, the best metronome is the TE Tuner application for smartphones and tablets but using a smartphone as a metronome/tuner comes with serious drawbacks. Enter the dedicated metronome/tuner.I've been using this metronome for about two months now, and it has very few drawbacks and a lot of great things along with a very low price tag.It is rechargeable! And works while recharging! I cannot stress this enough, because I have plenty of dead metronomes and tuners that need batteries, so much so I bought a mechanical metronome (which I still often use on odd or syncopated rythms). At full power, it is reasonably loud if you stand it up on its own kickstand, but barely audible when laying flat.It comes with an output speaker jack, and so can be extremely loud. This also greatly extends battery life. I'd estimate battery life to be maybe an hour using its own speaker, and several hours using a speaker. It also comes with a tuning mic which you attach to the musical instrument to tune. Tested once, worked fine, didn't use again. You can simply rest the metronome flat against the body anyway. It has a slow LCD screen. Here is where budget meets limitations. While the LCD is bright indoors, and barely function outdoors, at above 140 beats or so the metronome needle is useless. Also, the needle is green when to the left, and red to the right, which of course makes no sense when on an odd number of beats such as 3/4 time. Fortunately, there's alternative lights that are strong and distinct. Best to use the LCD screen for settings.User interface is excellent; I purposely didn't read the manual until later, and except for some tune functions the user interface was easy enough to figure out with minimal thinking.Except for the cheap LCD panel and the speaker on the bottom, this is an excellent, cheap, and functional device.

Perfect accessory for various string instruments!
I've been playing electric guitar for almost 10 months now, and my Stratocaster (for those who play, they know) always goes out of tune, or is very hard to tune to certain drop tunings. I already had a tuner, and a digital metronome but the screen was broken and you could only see it at a very specific angle. I like to play at my desk, so this got very annoying after a while.I found this, and bought it. The screen is bright and legible for viewing both metronome and tuning. Speaking of which, the tuning is very responsive and helps guide me to the right note. Not to mention, you can customize the pitch of A (standard is 440Hz) which is a nice feature to have when playing some songs!

Five star. Yes you have to buy this tuner.
Within seconds of getting this tuner in my hand I knew it was right. Most of them are junk, I hate it when they're too sensitive and you have to tweak the 440 Hertz standard to get them on track. Or worse they mix all the instruments into one meter which leads to nothing but confusion. This toner does it right.A 6 string guitar should be, EADGBE, and that's all you should be interested in, not (do-"C" re-"D" mi-"E" fa-"F" sol-"G" la-"A" ti-"B" and back to "do" which is not assigned to the first 7 keys, but it's relationship is in the music you're playing. All of this should not be in a tuner. The overall notes keys ABCDEFG are 7 so again that brings us back to the key of A being the next higher octave as seen here (ABCDEFGABCDEFGABCDEFG).Out of this mess that most tuners put you in, you would still need a TUNER to TUNE the TUNER not the Guitar. So trust me people, buy this tuner and save yourself a whole lot of headaches.

Very easy to read
I have simple needs for a tuner. I play a note, you tell me how sharp or flat I am. This has a nice, big color display that is very easy to read, so tuning goes quickly.

Instructions not in English
Just a heads up, the instructions are not in English. I assume Chinese? Seems to show proper notes on the device, but only in G or guitar mode. Hopefully it is similar for the violin? l would get another if you need instructions or use anything other than a guitar.
