Sta Tru Silver Alloy Hub Front Wheel (27X1 ¼-Inch)

The product I great (nice and true) and the price is good, however the product does not match the photo, it is actually a double wall slightly deeper rim (see added photo) which I prefer since the rear wheel I ordered was as well.The main reason I am giving it 3 stars is that I ordered it on the 1st expecting a 13 or so day delivery time which is fine. However the label had been created on the 1st but it did not ship until the 15th and arrived about a week late. If it has shipped a day or two after I ordered it it would've just been a week shipping time.

The wheel is nothing special. I had a guy back up on me in traffic and slip me replacement money, and I opted for this. Would have preferred a 27x1 1/8th instead, but there were none for the same price--so I'll change it out eventually.PRO:The wheel itself looks nice. It brakes rather well. It also isn't made entirely of steel (the hub and the rim are alloy.)The quick release is nice as well--simplistic but still nice looking.CON:The axel it came with needed grease badly and two of the cones were stuck together--I'll need to buy cone wrenches if I ever hope to brake them apart, though I don't honestly need to.As well, the meeting point of the rim (the seam) is slightly raised on one side, by maybe a quarter of a MM. Enough to cause it to go "POP POP POP" while braking. I flipped the wheel around and it fixed the problem. Didn't effect braking, but I feared it would damage the rim eventually or, at least, my brake pads prematurely.Aside from that, it rolls smooth after you grease it and looks good.EDIT: After several months of ownership I can attest to the value of this wheel. The braking is excellent, even in wet (assuming you've got good brake pads), and the popping sound has entirely disappeared with use. I added a star.

This wheel came loose in a box with nothing but a few sheets of paper thrown in with it. I appreciate that there was only biodegradable materials used, but that thing was literally rattling around in there. In addition, both ends of the axle had punctured the box and were jutting out, and the included axle was just dangling through one of the holes. I'm surprised it didn't fall out completely before getting to my porch.Upon installing, I found the wheel was not true & had a definite wobble to it. I also expected it to be lighter than it was, it's pretty much the exact same weight as the wheel from the 80's that I was replacing, yet the bearings seem to have more drag. My old wheel free-spins for much longer.All in all (and aside from my defective scenario) this wheel seems like an ok replacement, but just that. It definitely isn't an upgrade.

Item pictured and described is not what i received. Description says this is a single walled rim, but the item i received was double walled. Picture suggests metal dust cap, but item received was rubber. 100mm dropout spacing. Drilled for schraeder valve.

Bought the rear wheel to replace the stock which was bent. Was happy with it. The front wheel didn't look right in comparison so I bought this to match the rear. The wheel is alloy, which makes it lighter than the original stock. Being alloy, it improved the braking which is a definite plus on the old schwinn 10 speed. The wheels I received were straight and didn't need any adjustment. I didn't repack the bearings, which some had recommended. After a short ride to disperse the grease, they spin freely. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase.

The wheel is OK, maybe good for the price. Be aware that it comes without rim tape, and that the cone nuts are tightened so much that the wheel barely turns. You need to be comfortable with adjusting the cone nuts if you want a free-spinning wheel. Once you add rim tape and adjust the cone nuts it seems to be a good wheel (for Schraeder tube valves.)

Pretty much as advertized. Slapped my tire and tube on it, threw it on my bike and it was ready to go.Be sure to order rim liner as it does not come with the rim.

Fortunately, no damage even though both ends of axle had punched through the shipping box. The Sta-Tru 27" wheel appears to be perfectly true and looks great on my old Schwinn road bike. Very happy with purchase and prompt shipping. Thanks.
