The Last of the Moon Girls

This book is entertaining, whimsical, magical, enchanting, and endearing. The characters are easy to picture in your head. The farm you can also picture what it was like before and what it will become in the future.

Barbara Davis is a genius. This book was brilliant!"Witchcraft" can be a tricky subject to write about. There are fundamentals that must be portrayed accurately, not only to help combat stereotypes, but simply for accuracy purposes. And Davis does this wonderfully!Her characters, while practicing "witches", are portrayed in an incredibly realistic, positive way. The Moon Girls are all what would be referred to as "natural witches". For eons, women like this have existed. "Natural witches" are simply women (or people in general), who view things more holistically and rely upon their surroundings to help. All natural remedies have been around for ages and this book celebrates those who know the remedies, in a beautiful way.A murder mystery was not what I was expecting from this book (though admittedly, when my best friend tells me to read a book, I just get it and start reading, I don't look at the synopsis). However, Davis has this knack for balancing so many details, it's truly impressive.There is romance, murder, mystery, healing and all these lines are woven together so intrinsically and so beautifully, that it takes a moment to digest them all once you've completed the book.Based simply on the beauty of the writing and the characters, I recommend this book. The fact that story line will grab you and pull you in is the icing on the cake.

Positively one of the most beautiful books I’ve read in ages. At first I wondered if I’d got into witchcraft but was proved so wrong. The book developed into something absolutely beautiful. Fear, forgiveness, love and an old mystery. Wow I’m going to read it again. First I’ve read by Barbara David but I’m looking for more.

This is the third Barbara Davis book I’ve read. She doesn’t disappoint. The plot is interesting, the characters likable and realistic. Hard to put Disney.

Great book. Different from what I usually read. Unusual story line. Well developed characters and descriptions of places and situations.

I base my love of an audible book on the story first and secondly the narration of the audible.The story was interesting and worth the time spent, even if the broader arc was a very predictable. But the narration was such a disappointment. The way each and EVERY sentence ended in a loooonnngated word. (Andrew vs. Andrewwwww or listening vs listeninnnnnggg) in a breathless fashion with the last uplift of voice was so irritating I nearly threw my phone across the room. (My kids asked who only heard 1-2 lines in the car before I could shut it off and begged me to not play it again.) All the male characters had such similar (dare I say, the same) voice that I was often confused about who was speaking when I came back into the story after having stopped. There were no demarcations between characters. Even Lizzy and her mother were often so similar it was disconcerting.Read the book. Do not buy the audible. That's my advise. Enjoy it all the same.

I don't even know where to begin, What an amazing read. The characters are so full and well developed, I feel like I really know them. Some I love, some I loathe. I laughed, cried, rejoiced...couldn't put it down.

This was a nice book. Predictable genre, but the story kept me engaged throughout, and there were some surprises throughout. I found it to be an easy, entertaining read.

A wonderful and magical story about four generational women, although the start let you assume the opposite.Absolutely worth of reading!

A satisfying and surprisingly subtle story. Excellent plot, tight writing and genuine depth.No preaching but an excellent ethical backbone, endearing and complex characters and the kind of truth told best by fiction. All this and yet an easy to devour story.
