KBBQ at home
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been on a search for the perfect grill for Korean/Japanese bbq at home and this is exactly it. Instructions are in Japanese. But I’ve read others review and the only thing important to know is to fill with water. It’s easy to use and cooks meats nicely. Uses butane fuel with magnetic attachment for secure placement. And last, cleanup was a breeze. I even bought two of them for gatherings. Definitely worth it.

SGL-1, Small stove, BIG Impact!
We love Japanese and Korean food, and adding the Iwatani SLG-1 stove to my wife's kitchen has been a great decision. It's easy to use, and it brings back flavors we missed from our childhood. The ability to grill right at the table makes meals feel more interactive and nostalgic, just like the ones we remember growing up on iut respective countries.Highly recommended.

Grill weapon of choice
Beautiful, useful and practical. Well built all around, used it in our home and outdoor.

Please read the instructions
Some people think they don't need instructions but here are useful items of information from the booklet which I translated.1. You need water in the water tray (between the burner and grill plate), 230 mL or 1 US measuring cup will suffice.2. The gas cartridge is held in place with a magnet; if there is metal dust on the magnet, remove it with sticky tape.3. Insert the gas cartridge and turn the knob counterclockwise all the way to ignite, let it come up to temp for 2-3 minutes, then lower temp accordingly.4. When you're done, remove the gas cartridge and put the cap back on; don't store it inside the grill.5. Don't let the grill plate sit empty for a long time while it's on, it will deteriorate the coating and in my experience the grill will be harder to clean.Other important information from the manual: the gasket for the gas seal deteriorates; you should replace the grill 10 years after purchase. Don't cover all the holes on the grill plate and don't use the grill in an enclosed space like a tent (it is smokeless but obviously combustion requires oxygen). There is a lot of useful information in the manual; if you don't speak Japanese, download the google translate app on android and take a pic to translate. My experience: this grill is ideal for 2 people, 3 is possible and 4 is unreasonable, unless you don't mind waiting 10 minutes for each person. Some people are more patient than others but this grill simply does not get as hot as a restaurant grill. If that's what you're looking for then an electric grill may be more suitable. This grill is lightweight and terrific for camping but the manual advises you not to boil water on the plate. If you decide to use rice for your carbs you will have to cook rice before leaving. I recommend sliced potatoes; you can buy them pre-sliced at GIANT if you're lazy like me.

Pretty neat grill.
Nice, easy to clean, easy to cook. It's fairly safe and pretty smoke free for the most part. I even added peanut oil to the grill plate when cooking. Not bad for the price. The one con is that it doesn't get that hot, I'm guessing because it's a butane powered unit.

Great for home Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ is one of my favorite meals. This allows me to have it at home and save a little money versus going to the restaurant. The grill is not very large, so realistically you aren't using this for more than two people at a time (or even one very hungry person). It heats up relatively fast but the meat is not in direct contact with the flame anywhere on the grill.Clean up is easy as under the removable grilling surface is a donut shaped grease trap. Remove and clean.I have been able to get at least 4 uses out of a can of butane, your mileage may vary depending on the length of your cooking time and if you are at max setting or not. This won't fully replace trips to the Korean BBQ near me, but it will let me scratch that itch whenever I want.

Perfect Date Night Without Leaving the House!
I got this grill as a holiday gift for my boyfriend, and let me tell you, it was a hit! He hasn’t stopped raving about it to anyone who will listen. We’ve already used it a few times, and it’s quickly becoming a staple in our dinner routine. Even though the instructions aren’t in English, the setup is super intuitive—definitely “dummy-proof.” The only additional item we needed was a butane gas bottle, which I picked up at H Mart. There’s virtually no assembly required, making it incredibly easy to get started. We used it to grill short rib and skirt steak, which I prepped by freezing for a few minutes to slice thinly. Paired with Ebara Yakiniku Sauce Regular, the results were phenomenal. It truly makes us feel like we’re on a special date night, but without leaving the house! I hate spending an hour cooking only to eat in minutes, so this grill is perfect for a quick, interactive, and delicious meal.

Great machine, hard to clean
Great machine—but it’s a one trick pony that’s a little hard to clean (regular to clean).I liked just getting a regular burner with a Korean BBQ hot plate to grill food, like this one:https://amzn.to/3T33O1ZCause then I had a multi-purpose burner, and way easier to clean Korean BBQ plate.I almost kept this machine, but it just took so much longer to clean than the smoother hot plate.
