Great to protect induction cooktop
Just got a new $$$ induction cooktop and wanted to protect the surface while cooking. After doing some online research, I saw these silicone mats recommended by posters on Reddit. They work great...the pans still heat up fine and the new cooktop is protected. I have granite counters, so sometimes I will take the silicone mat off the cooktop to the counter to use as a trivet.

Fantastic
I recently got a new induction stove and looked at the shiny, perfect surface.I admired it.I touched it.I wiped off the fingerprint because man, it is NOT fingerprint resistant.I looked nervously at my collection of cast iron cookware, and back at the stove, channeled my best Gandalf and exclaimed, "YOU SHALL NOT SCRATCH"So here we are. I bought a set of these Lazy K cooktop mats, 3 of them in two sizes. I still need a fourth for the smallest element but I couldn't find a matching one in that size. Knowing how good these mats are now that I've used them for a couple of months, I'll be ordering another small one and just centering it over the element. It'll be too big but I trust this product now.I've tried to pay attention to the instructions saying that you shouldn't use these with the heat on high for an extended period. "Extended period" is a bit vague, but I've had the stove on max power for several minutes while boiling a pot of water and there were no ill-effects. So I'm pretty convinced that I don't need to be overly cautious with these.I expect that there's probably a small difference in heating time when using these mats, primarily because you're increasing the distance between the pan and the magnetic element by putting the mat between them. I haven't run any comparisons yet, but I don't think the difference has been noticeable to me.Cleaning them is pretty simple, a quick scrub with a brush and a little dish soap does the trick, or if I'm about to run the dishwasher I'll just throw them in there and they come out perfect. The radial lines in the design are slightly raised, which allows a small amount of airflow on either side and helps with minimizing the heat radiating back into the stove. It seems to work well, the stove surface is noticeably cooler right after removing a pan. It's still hot, but less likely to burn, and the surface is easily touchable after less than a minute. The mats leave no permanent marks. And they work great as a trivet when you need one quickly.I love these mats, they're an excellent idea for anyone that loves cast iron but doesn't want to mess up their glass induction top.

No problems with GE Profile
Simple clean design works great with no noticeable decrease in heat transfer. Brought 6 cups of water to a rapid boil with no melting or discoloring as some have mentioned. Also works perfectly fine with GE Profile as some said it has problems working with the range. Lastly, it keeps the glass of the cooktop cooler when finished cooking as opposed to a bare pan on the cooktop heating the glass more directly, and no scratching

Doesn't Work
It arrived with a spot on it, didn't think anything of it. When I went to use it, it didn't work. Very disappointed, wouldn't buy this again.

Works for most induction cooking applications
This thing performs as advertised. It prevents scratching of the glass (esp with cast iron skillets), and it prevents heating of the glass, which makes it easier to clean after cooking. Just make sure you don't push it to its limits like I'm doing. The description states that you should not use this with an induction diffuser plate like im doing in my picture, but there are ways to make it work. Pictured is a bellman stovetop milk steamer on an induction adapter plate, on top of this mat. On high power, the steel induction plate will burn this mat because apparently it gets over 500 degrees. So the solution is to use a lower power setting. After I figured that out, I am happy with the setup. The steamer heats up just fine on the lower settingIt's also worth noting: this mat has the highest heat rating compared to other silicone-only ones on the market

Perfect. 100% better than the light-colored version.
When we got our "fancy" ceramic-top induction stove in our kitchen remodel a few years back, we were worried about the durability of the surface, which came with all kinds of warnings about using cast iron (our favorite kind of cookware) lest the surface be damaged. So I grabbed a previous version of this product, which was kind of a khaki color. I liked it because in addition to protecting from scratches, it also kept the area around the big burner mostly spatter-free. But it always looked dirty, and no amount of scrubbing or dishwashwering would get it clean. This one is the answer.LIKESThis is a durable, Kevlar-(like?) mat to put on over the burner on your flat-top induction stove. It appears to be impervious to any level of heat, and it does not interfere with the induction process. As noted, it protects from scratches, although our experience has been the ceramic material does not in fact scratch easily. More importantly for us, it also prevents a lot of cooked-on spatter, which makes cleaning the stove much easier. Best of all, this one shows no stains. I can't even tell if they're not there or the dark color is covering them, but it looks like the day we bought it.DISLIKESNone, really. The only way we've managed to damage one of these (besides the stains on the light-colored ones) was when someone accidently used it as a mat to cut something with scissors and slid the scissor underneath, snipping a little cut into it. So uh ... don't do that? It does fine in the dishwasher, and looks fine sitting on the stove.Five stars for the this BLACK COLORED ONE ONLY. There really is no reason to get the light color that will immediately absorb permanent stains.
