Punchy, rich sound.
Pros Punchy, dynamic sound - easily the most immediate-sounding Sennheisers I have tried. Excellent, crisp sound clarity across the entire frequency spectrum. The lows in particular have a rich, sonorous quality. Definite emphasis on low-end but without overwhelming the mids & highs - kick drums and bass tones really cut through the mix nicely, which is probably why they are so popular with DJ’s. There is an exceptional amount of detail in the overall soundstage. So much so I have pretty much abandoned my AKG reference headphones which were double the price but simply don’t compare to the listening experience of the HD-25’s. They are addictively good. Comfortable ear pads and headband with great flexibility due to the split option. The ear pads don’t have to be sat perfectly on your ears to carry the sound fully which is superb. They feel light and unobtrusive on your head. Cons Cable is a tad short. Cable is a little rigid due to its rectangular, dual shape and keeps kinking in places due to how it has been folded. A circular or coiled cable would be so much better. Single-sided cable comes from the RH side - given that these are designed for DJ’ing that is not ideal for right-handed people. P.S. The way to tell which side is which (as they aren’t marked) is the visible red wire and RED = RIGHT. Summary These are dynamic, functional headphones specifically targeted at DJ’s. I wouldn’t recommend them for music production or studio work as they are not especially neutral, the cable is too short and they pinch a little after a few hours use. But for DJ’ing and general listening they are absolutely superb and I can’t imagine a superior alternative.

Wow great sound, great headphones
Wow love these. I am not a DJ, but was looking for a pair of wired headphones and these fit the bill perfectly. So light as the name suggests, but I mean they are so light. They are so comfortable, snug fit over/on the ears and when not in use just sit comfortably hanging around your neck. The sound, fantastic. So much detail and high quality on every nuance of sound. Have always love Sennheiser headphones and these are no different. Highly recommend these.

Good for what they are designed for
These are pretty good. Sound quality is decent. I found the cabling from both sides, (rather than just one), a bit annoying to start with, but then I realised there was a small twist in the cable. These are high quality headphones and have detachable cables, so a quick unplug, untwist and reconnect and they are a lot better. I believe they are aimed at DJs but I bought them because their high sensitivity works well with portable music players, such as my iPod. A niche product but useful for some (like me!) They sound better than my old but similar Sennheiser PX100-II headphones which are getting a bit fragile now.

Legendary
The word "legendary" (written on the box) doesnt even being to cover how highly I rate these headphones. Recently brought a pair for my son, having owned a pair of my own for 30 years (and theyre still going strong). Obviously, there will be occasions where you need to replace the cables and ear pads, but thats pretty standard. Rock solid, almost indestructable, and they make great reference headphones for producers and artists.

All hail the Sennheiser HD25s!
I purchased a pair of Technics 1200 turntables last year, but unfortunately went on to make the mistake of not buying a quality pair of headphones to accompany them. Instead I persevered with some cheapo, generic ones I had lying around, and after a few months I started to wonder why I was still struggling with my manual beat matching skills. “Surely I should be improving a bit more by now! I mean it’s been a few months now, come on! blah blah blah!”. The typical kind of whining one does to themselves. Anyway, to cut a long story short, and after speaking to someone who’d been DJ’ing since the 90s. My beat matching problems were being exacerbated due to my cheapo headphones muddying all the lows, mids, and high frequencies into one big, indistinguishable, jumbled audio soup. I was struggling to differentiate the frequencies between the incoming and outgoing track, because everything was being muddied together. So, again after speaking to my DJ buddy and asking around on the internet. The general consensus was that the Sennheiser HD25s have been the go to headphones for DJ’ing since the 1990s for a reason, and… after taking the plunge and buying a pair, I quickly understood why this was the case. My only regret was not buying a pair much sooner, as I could have saved myself a few months of hardship. Oh well you live and learn! Anyway the comfort, clarity, value for money and robustness of these things, continue to elevate them head and shoulders above all other competitors on the market, even three decades on - now that’s some accomplishment! All hail the Sennheiser HD25s!

Awesome Headphones
These just arrived and immediately had to try them out. Fantastic sound. Kept swapping over from my old Sennheiser set and the new one is better - not massively, but better! The old set the foam on the head piece was disintigrating (they are old) . This new set was bought for ordinary use and for me they are great - bass is fantastic, sound is clear. I particularly like remixed tracks and these are fab for listening to those. Only downside for me so far is they are slightly tight on the head - reckon they will ease up with use. PS. The red side is the right ear and has a small R on the fitting - bit difficult to see at first but it's there.

I always used to use Sennheiser before trying Pioneer & AIAIAI. I've now gone back to Sennheiser because the sound quality and more importantly the build quality is far superior to anything on the market.
