good value for the money
I used theses on a bedroom ceiling that was being stomped on by the neighbor upstairs. It didn't eliminate the noise, but rather reduced it. In that setting, it was hard to find a way to attach the panels to the ceiling. All the mounting tape options I tried failed. There were several things that worked for me:1. painting the corners of the panels with several coats of a Acrylic Gesso paint, an arts and craft item, and then either adding a layer of regular acrylic latex (arts and crafts again) paint or several layers of plasti-dip. These worked well in that setting when attached with 3M mounting tape, regular. Heavy duty also worked, but that is more difficult to remove without damaging the drywall. I also was sure to apply pressure to the tape for at least 30 seconds before attaching, and then applying pressure again. I tried the nano tapes Amazon sells, and they didn't work quite as well, but with bit enough pieces probably would work. The stomper in this case is a fairly small woman. On the walls, another color of this brand attached fine with a nano tape, I just needed to apply pressure several times when the panels started to detach, but none fell off. I guess it's been about 3 weeks now for the method that did seems to work. Another thing to consider would be applying aluminum foil to the back with a spray adhesive or contact cement, but be careful to read about the effects of aluminum foil. I'm experimenting with this method, it takes some time to learn how use the spray adhesives. I also made several panels with this material sticking it to both sides of plastic cardboard with a spray adhesive to attach to the side poles of two lofts that currently surround my bed. The ceiling tiles alone where no match for the stomps of the evil stomper young woman that lives above me. But when combined with the two lofts now partially surrounded with sound blocking material, panels on all the walls of my bedroom, and the use of foam ear plugs and 3M PELTOR X5A Over-the-Head Ear Muffs, the evil stomper girl can no longer wake me up in the middle of the night. The loft panels are only partially done, in the meantime I'm using sound absorbing blankets and standing noise absorbing panels instead. Some notes are that I'm a little bit worried that the panels and adhesives I used in abundance might be out gassing, so I've been keeping my bedroom well ventilated. And also, who am to judge. The stomper girl who lives above me might have a very valid reason for stomping. She might, for example, but a pre school teaching who likes making her lesson plans every time she happens to wake up during the night. Also, it takes some time to learn to sleep while wearing the 3M hearing protection. I think these panels are less effective to the low frequency sounds of stomps than higher frequency sounds of something like music.

They work well, but the dimensions are a lie.
I like these tiles and they work well. Although the dimensions are a lie. They are not 12 x 12. They are 11.75 x 11.75.

3M Double-Sided Tape Does Not Hold These Panels Very Well
The recommended tape in the title of this review does not hold the panels on the wall very well. Many have fallen off onto the floor. I have put more tape behind the panels that have come loose and fallen off. Some of those have stayed on the wall so far, but some have fallen again. I don't think this should happen with the 3-M tape. The moral of the story is: use quite a bit of tape. I would put diagonal strips in the corners and two longer strips, one across near the top and one across near the bottom of where the panel will be.Update: the 3-M double-sided tape continues to allow the tiles to fall off of the wall. We have plastered more tape under each tile, and it doesn't help. I am going to purchase 3 sheets of 1/4 inch plywood to rest against the wall and then glue the tiles to the plywood.I am using the panels to make a design wall for quilt pieces. Pins hold the quilt pieces to the panels okay so that part of the project works just fine.

The good and the bad.
First part of the review : Does it work? In my opinion it works very well. I could tell by the negative reviews that people were not understanding how to use it , or don't really have a full understanding of the physics behind acoustics.I used it on the ceiling of a city cargo van I recently bought. The previous owner of the van installed Flettner roof vents. These are small wind turbines on the outside of the van roof that extract stale air from the inside. The bearings on the turbines make absolutely no noise, but the slight vibration is amplified by the bare metal roof and creates a somewhat loud annoying sound. So, I installed the acoustical panels on the roof to absorb the sound that was being created.I'm happy to say they worked exactly as they should and made a least a 95% improvement in the dirty sound waves that were being created.I found the quality of the panels to be excellent and the product itself exactly as I imagined.BUT HERE IS THE BAD: and it's not the fault of the product but the seller. THEY ARE NOT 12"x12". Thank goodness I only needed to cover about 12 sf so the size issue wasn't immediately noted til I got to the last piece. THEY ARE EXACTLY 11 3/4" x 11 7/8"., so not even a quadrilateral square.

The item is as described.
No problem with order, delivery or quality of product. Still assessing sound absorbency, noise cancelling qualities which is why I bought the product.

They were all one gray color Not different dye lot like some one else said. I'm happy about that.
I thought it came with nails and glue but I guess not. I'll have to buy that now. They are much denser then I thought though. Well see how it works for the annoying noise coming through the wall when it's windy out. There's a light/s on the outside of the building. I've been asking for the noise to get fixed with no response so this is my resolution I really hope.

Insulated an entire room
We used these to cover an entire floor of a bedroom due to obnoxiously loud, crazy cat-hoarder neighbors that were prone to screaming and banging their ceiling.Well... it was a bit of work using calking adhesive and covering the floor, but well-worth it.These tiles literally muted-out any noise that the two crones continued to make. That drove them nuts :D

Not really sound proofing
Bought these to muffle water noises in plumbing but they don't really provide much in the way of noise reduction. Even though they're really light, the fibrous nature of the material also makes it difficult to stick to a vertical surface. If you want something to provide serious sound proofing, don't bother with these.

Does the job well
Using this to block the noise from multiple neighbors air conditioners and an obnoxious ceiling fan under my bedroom.I put them in strategic locations, in groups of 6, and they really help. With my ear up against the wall vs the panel, I would say noise and vibration has dropped about 75%. Some frequencies still bleed through, but are much reduced.Money well spent.

Not too sure...
I was trying to stop the noises from the room above mine l don't think it made any differences.. The pannells are very easy to install but on and off some keeps falling down, l applied it on my room ceiling... l have used double side adhesive and careful because it will take the paint of the wall.. I don't know really how to review this it probably works for others but it didn't really fix my issues..

I absolutely would recommend these to anyone!
I absolutely love these. I have had issues with my downstairs neighbours hearing me at night. We talk and stay up fairly late because of our schedule. It has had a poor effect on our neighbours. We had been searching for solutions to deaden the sound from our voices. We figured out which walls the sound was coming from and installed these tiles. The issue is gone. My neighbours are happy and the sound in the room is so much nicer. I am absolutely surprised at how well these work. Everything sounds better including music the tv and our voices plus my neighbours don’t hear us anymore. We raised some tiles off the wall and made them look a little less recording studio and a little more bedroom. I love the way it turned out and I love the comfortable sound and feel it has added to my space. I will be purchasing more of these for the rest of my house and I would recommend them to anyone who has any sound issues in their space. You don’t realize how bad the sounds in a house are until you instal a product like this and get that crisper and clearer sound. It’s not easy to explain but it’s basically as if the sound just hits your ears and completely drops so you hear the next words without hearing the echo from the last sound that you heard. It’s a calmer more relaxed atmosphere because of it.
