Slick presentation about the unthinkable (but imaginable)
A hefty book in paperback, but well-done. Excellent art that describes impossible things. Lines just thick enough to not mar the figures, and an overall simplicity favoring smooth geometric shapes. Lots of interesting textures in evocative scenes. And tension throughout. The story is both heart-breaking and heart-warming as it develops. The reader has to survive along with these kids, who are left alone when "separatists" kill the crew of a colony-bound ship from an Earth that has become unlivable. The ship itself, with it's resident AI named [Valerie] assumes protection of the children as their journey to the new colony world is only half-over and teaches them to do what must be done to ensure their future. Valerie's protocols were reset in order to deal with the emergency, so she struggles to take care of and provide for the unfortunate children of the former crew. But their troubles aren't over and it's still a long way to the colony world. Adventures! And the kids (who are so cute) must grow up to work for their own survival. [Valerie] is an AI you might like to meet in the future!

A fast-paced sci-fi journey
Lemire and Walta's mini series tells a survival story in space, that threads familiar territory of the genre, with th spin of children being the center piece. This could have gone many ways, but it manages to stay in a somewhat predictable and kind of uplifting tone.

Highly Recommended Science Fiction At It's Best
4 AND 1/2 STARSWhat a pleasant surprise this story was, worth of the Will Eisner nominee that it received. Oversized, stylish artwork and a deeply emotional story had me hooked throughout. While it might have felt too short, understand it is a collected graphic novel of only 6 issues of a comic book. Written by one of the top ten comic writers working today, Jeff Lemire truly created something special with Sentient. This would make an incredible movie and I won't be the least bit surprised if Netflix snatches up the rights and produces it as a stand-alone movie, or even limited series. Buy this now. You won't be disappointed.

You gotta love Jeff Lemire
First off let me just say that if your a Jeff Lemire fan like myself then you should go ahead and grab this.Between this, family tree and the incredible Gideon Falls the guy is just at the top of his game. The arts pretty solild as well. My only complaint is that it can be a tad fuzzy in some places but overall this is a great addition to have in your library.Little disclaimer for you tho. This isnt really space horror. This is far from a dead space or aliens style story so just know if that's what your going into this thinking you may be disappointed.Overall tho would recommend. It's solid stuff.

Ignore the top review, the guy received the wrong item. This is a great hardcover
This is a standard hardcover graphic novel, and it's amazing. I BURNED through this book so fast. It's amazing! I love Jeff Lemire and the kid characters were realistic and sympathetic. I liked the art a LOT and the hardcover is shiny and cool :)

Brilliant story as usual from Jeff. Fantastic art. Great idea and reminded me of an old 70s novella I loved as a child. Would make a great movie
