Topology: A Categorical Approach
A**R
The best approach to topology I've ever read!
This book did an excellent job at both presenting topology from a categorical point of view, and vastly clearing up confusions and misnomers I had from previous learning. It clearly illustrates how to build all of the most important foundational ideas succinctly, and does so in a way that is clear and extendable to my own interests without arcane incantations or major intuitive leaps. I do think this text would be hard to grasp without having already known some of the basic ideas of topology and category theory, but it is a graduate text so this is to be expected. At this point I feel like having a full undergraduate course that took this approach and covered the broader background would produce far more mathematicians (and others!) who are not afraid to wield topological arguments than currently occurs. I really loved this text.
