"Cocoon of Comfort Gel CAR Cushion Combo Set- L18 Standard

This solved all of my problems. In Spring of 2015, we got a 1988 Volvo 240 wagon for a song and it is a great car. Only problem is that it has a very torn-up driver's seat. The estimate on a rebuild was not practical considering the value of the car, so we had been struggling all summer to find a seat cover that would, for one thing, even FIT, and if it fit, that would be comfortable with the mess that was going on under it. We had layers on that seat. In the fall, after reading reviews, I felt like $75 was worth the risk, and we were not disappointed! A bonus for me, at 5'3", is that it boosts me up a bit, too. My son, 5'11" has no problem with the added height himself. Now, at the end of 2015, I can say this is a GREAT seat pad.On the positive side:- It fits the seat- It is amazingly comfortable- It stays in place- It looks great... It does not look out of place. It is understated. If anyone knew what it was, I'd be afraid of theft, but it's very subtle in appearance.On the negative side:- The seat heater does not transfer through because of the thickness and grippy underside. That trade-off was well worth it.At some point I will need a set for passenger side. I will not hesitate to buy it again.

I live in the DC area and commutes are ridiculously long so having uncomfortable car seats means lots of trips to the chiropractor and for massages. I've tried a number of other types of cushions and they've only made the drive bearable--this set of cushions has left me free of back and hip aches. I've only used these for a week and a half, but that included an out-of-town 8-hour round-trip drive.While the cushions make driving in a car with uncomfortable seats pain-free they aren't the kind of cushions you sit in and sigh happily because they are so comfy--they are firm. Initially, I thought they were too firm since they have no shaping or cutout for your tailbone and it was uncomfortable at first, but I no longer register any discomfort.I'm under 5 feet and the back cushion has helped by moving me forward enough that the front of the seat no longer hits my leg uncomfortably. Conversely, the bottom cushion did make a significant difference to my height and I'm still trying to find a sweet spot where I don't have to move the car seat forward to reach the pedals, putting me too close to the steering wheel and angling my leg uncomfortably.I drive a 2009 RAV-4 and they fit fine. Other cushions I've used move around and even fall out of the car as I'm getting out--these haven't budged. I do have fabric seat covers on so I'm not sure if they would stay in place as much if they were directly on the leather. I haven't bothered to fasten the lower strap on the back cushion since it's not moved around at all.I'm hesitant to give them 5 stars since I've used for such a short time and the price is high. If they continue to keep me feeling comfortable AND they hold up a significant amount of time, then I'll increase my rating to 5 stars.

A few warnings: (1) this is not a good product if you are looking for a driver's side cushion. The seat bottom does not have a strap, so it can and will move around. Also, the gel has a lot of give, so even if you sew on your own strap or something, you will still find yourself moving around on turns. I found it very distracting. (2) This is a very thick cushion, so depending on your vehicle it will lift you up significantly. For my vehicle on the driver's side it was way too high. I'm 6'3" and it pushed me up way too high. Definitely not a good purchase if you are over 6 feet. Again - probably comfortable for a passenger seat, but not very safe for a driver's seat. (3) If it doesn't work for you and you want to return in, you will get hit with a 20% restocking fee and will have to pay shipping costs. I have not priced the shipping costs, but this thing is super heavy - I'm anticipating it will cost a pretty penny. You better be sure it will work for your vehicle and your particular needs, otherwise, you are stuck with a very expensive errand.

I generally don't write reviews except where a product has gone above and beyond, or conversely, falls well below.I was in sore need (pun intended) of car seat cushions, and had been for some time; to the point where I was thinking of getting rid of my car or purchasing completely new car seats.When I initially came across these seats I was skeptical and thought them grossly overpriced.However, they turned out to be worth every penny. I can't rave enough about how comfortable, supportive and stable they are, and how they brought real pleasure back into driving my car.I can safely say this is a product that one shouldn't hesitate to get.

The bottom cushion is gel, with foam underneath it. The gel gets very cold when it is cold out (think anything below fifty degrees), so when you sit on it in the morning it will literally suck the heat out of you. When it's below freezing, it is unbearable and never warms up enough to not be. But I did fix this issue by unzipping the cover on the bottom cushion, and you can flip the whole inside over, so the foam is up and the gel is down. Now it is not freezing to sit on, but it is also not nearly as comfortable. The back cushion doesn't have that issue and it is rather comfortable and stays in place. Overall better than the terrible factory seat, but if you live in a cold climate be aware of the shortcomings of gel.
