Jan Marini Skin Research Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% Acne Treatment Wash - 8 Fl Oz

I used to have really bad acne, including the cystic type. Every year I was having horrible outbreaks and having to take oral antibiotics. I was using clindamycin twice a day and still unable to get rid of my acne. I didn't want to resort to oral antibiotics again. I once used a benzoyl peroxide solution that caused more harm than good because it dried my skin to the point of breaking skin. But I decided to try this product, which has a much lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide. It worked wonders! I applied it twice a day on some cystic acne that had been shown to be resistant to clindamycin and another topic antibiotic I tried. After about two weeks my acne cleared completely. I believe I had bacteria under my skin that kept coming back and was killed by this product. It has been a couple of months since then and I am still clear of acne. I still get one or two spots every once in a long while but nothing compared to what I had before. I then apply a bit of this product (I make sure I rub it in and I don't skimp but don't use too much) and after one or two days the acne is gone. The first treatment I did was in the summer and my face was often oily, which prevented my skin from becoming too dry due to the benzoyl peroxide. If I apply it in the winter I'll make sure I use lotion to counter the drying. It's important to note that this product is a free radical solution that destroys all kinds of molecules. It probably not only destroys bacteria but also our cells. It may accelerate aging and maybe cancer. So it's important to use it sparingly, only when necessary. One big advantage of this product is that it won't cause antibiotic resistance, which I believe was a major factor why I couldn't get rid of my acne. There seems to be many different types of acne so this product may not work for you. But it worked for me and I hope it works for you.

My entire life, I never really had an issue with acne. That is - until my 20s. The horror!! I thought acne was only for teenagers going through puberty? Honestly, where is the justice. Anyway, adult acne is the hand I've been dealt so I just have to find the right products to clear them out! Let me first tell you about my skin. I come home from work and my skin is soaking in oil. It glistens as if I had dipped my face in a tub of butter. But in the morning, my skin is sooo dry. It feels like its cracking. I've done a lot of research and tried a lot of products for combination skin and it's mostly comeback with unsuccessful results until I found this product. A friend of mine as similar skin to me. We are both in our mid-20s and have moderate cystic acne and she introduced me to this stuff. After using this product for 3 months, my face dramatically cleared up(with the help of drinking more water and cutting out processed foods). I used it every other day and it really helped! I was worried that this would further dry out my skin, but since its only 2.5% of benzoyl peroxide, I guess it doesn't affect the dryness so much. As long as you where a moisturizer you know is beneficial for your skin, dryness shouldn't be a concern. Now that my face is more clear, I usually only use this when I know my period is approaching to fight off those hormonal pimples!

This product has been a lifesaver for me over the past year. This is the only thing I have found that works for both sebaceous filaments AND my hormonal/ cystic acne. You only need a tiny amount therefore it lasts forever. It is expensive but I absolutely believe you get what you pay for with this product. Please note that with some experimentation, I’ve got a few recommendations: 1) Using this every single day will wreck your moisture barrier and can actually lead to worse acne. I use this twice a week max and fill in with a very gentle cleanser on other days. 2) For goodness sakes moisturize your skin with a good medium-heavy moisturizer after use. Again, great product but can be drying. 3) Wear sunscreen every day: I have found this product makes me a little photosensitive, even with my olive skin tone.

I'm in my 40s and still have breakouts, but this face wash keeps my skin clear. It's mild but effective. My only complaint is that it can bleach out clothing and towels/linens.

In high school I did not have acne too bad, it was pretty mild for a teenager. Even at age 18 my skin was pretty clear. However, at age 20 my skin erupted with cystic like adult acne. I tried accutane, I tried prescription topical products, I tried switching my diet, I tried many different products all claimed to help with acne. Within a month of using this product my acne began to vanish. My skin used to have breakouts of 30-40 zits/blackheads at a time and right now at this very moment I'm down to just 2 spots! I JUST bought my third bottle and I am so happy with the results of this product. I truly recommend this for anyone suffering with stubborn acne.

This is creamy and oily going on the face but rinses clean. I thought it was a lotion at first and realized that it said "wash" on the bottle. This box and bottle needs instructions. Why are there no instructions. I know how to wash my face BUT I still want instructions. This is costly compared to the Avon wash I usually get. I get the same results from both.

This stuff is great. Very gentle but effective. Love this brand. I hope they don't change the formula; if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I've been using Jan Marini for over a year now & I love all their products. I used to get crazy cystic acne but with a good regiment of Jan Marini line it's cleared up amazingly well. I use this face wash in the AM only (used to use it at night as well but it was just too drying for me), followed by the Bioglycolic Cream, then Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment (5%), then the SPF 30 (goes on like a awesome smelling lotion). At night I just use neutrogena moisturizing makeup removing moist towellete's with the bioglycolic cream. So long as I stick to the routine & don't skip anything my skin is super clear, and when I do get breakouts they are generally only when it's that time of the month and they clear up within a few days rather than the weeks it used to take. Highly recommend this stuff-- just be careful & get sunscreen as well because the benzoyl peroxide can make your skin very sensitive to sunlight.
