Someone put an incredible amount of thought and design into this.
I lost the first version of this review so I may be a bit terse. The truly short version is: "Buy this one. It's spectacular."I this and the similar "Shinewee" brand at the same time to hold a 13" tablet. This one is the superior of the two and in fact the best cell phone and tablet clamp I own -- and I have many. In the following list I'll use (S: ) in parens to indicate a notable difference from the Shinewee brand.Appearance:* Solid, sturdy, tight tolerances. Nothing wiggles, jiggles, shakes, feels loose, or fragile. (S: thumbscrew clamp jiggles)* Great texture, chamfering, rounded edges (S: basic versions of same)* Perfect "finish design." (S: exposed assembly screws)* Quality instructional stenciling (S: omg see me below)* Textured silicone grip pads on the arms AND the center block. (S: none on center)Function:* Quick-release levers for both sliders. (S: only on one arm)* ARCA grooves on the bottom arm and on the central block to use with standard quick-release clamps. (S: same but better, see me below)* Rotating cold shoe on top with adjustable tension with included hex wrench. (S: A giant ugly thumbscrew)* Same hex wrench can be used to tension or remove the locking levers. (S: can't be done)* Cold shoe mount ALSO on the bottom arm (non-rotating). (S: no)* 1/4"-20 (standard) threaded holes - one in exact center of center block, and THREE on the bottom. (S: One off-center in center block, one on bottom.)* As I was photographing them I discovered this one is longer than the (S) brand by a cm or two; the first photo (only) is of them both at full extension. It doesn't seem fair to compare this to the other brand with the thumbscrew because this clamp is one of those rare products that's so completely thought out and perfectly made that you should own one even if you don't have anything to do with it but to admire it. I like it that much.Unfortunately the rest of this review is actually more about detail of how the "Shinewee" fails compared to this model. But before you go:* The Stenciling! I've been referring to the thumbscrew clamp by it's brand name, "Shinewee", which is printed in huge ugly letters on the side with some usless serial number and model number. This clamp, on the other hand, has beautiful stenciling and none of it is used to do anything other than instruct on use. The brand name is nowhere. That's confidence. That's beautiful. It's elegant. It's ... the opposite of crass. It's also a problem because I believe this is "Fayeegin" brand but searching doesn't find anything remotely like this clamp in their range of offerings. I'm honestly worried that this is one of my favorite things and I won't be able to find another or get one for a friend someday because it's so obscure. If this exact amazon listing goes away -- send help!Okay, now you can go (buy it) but I want to talk a little more about how it's great and the thumbscrew one isn't. I will be referring to "this one" and "F brand" as the product in review here and "thumbscrew" or "S brand" for the other.* There are points where the S brand wins. The Arca grooves on the center block. I really wanted to talk about this because it ties into how ugly the S brand is. F has one rectangular center block, but the S design has a slimmer center block with an ugly adaptor bolted on the back of it. The bolt that holds the adaptor on is possibly the single ugliest part of the entire design - presumably so it's easy to remove the adaptor if you aren't using the Arca grooves. If you do remove the adaptor, the remaining block is much cleaner looking and lighter and now you can access TWO off-center 1/4" threaded holes. That's all very nice! On the other hand, the F brand has a thicker, heavier center block with the Arca grooves cut directly in it. F is a little more solid and heavy, as a result but -- here's the real downer -- it's just a few mm too short to allow my standard Arca clamps to fit in-between the arm locking levers when locked. The good news is it's possible to remove or change the locking position of the arms using the included hex wrench. Or a very slightly narrower Arca clamp would fit.* One arm of the S brand is loose because -- and this is unfathomable -- they used proper linear rod on the quick-release end, but they did not on the thumbscrew end! The tolerances on the textured rods and the leadscrew/nut are so sloppy that it requires a sturdy clamping force to hold itself in place.* There are some cases where the S brand would be preferred because of the thumbscrew... like if you wanted to be able to crack your phone with the clamping force maybe? Using locking linear rod on the F brand means you always feel how firmly you are clamping the phone.

Crap, do not buy!
Item looks sturdy. Made of steel, but where it attaches to the base the bolt are flimsy. It lasted until from July 2022 to November 2022 and then the 2 bolts snapped making the holder useless. Poor design. Do not buy.

Very well made but will not tighten securely
This is a very well made product. However, when I mounted the holder horizontal, it would not secure the iPad. The iPad keeps sliding down. The first time, it fell out and my iPad hit the floor. I’m not sure how to get enough tension to secure it so this will not happen.

Very well-made!
Sturdy, tight little mount for my tablet and has several tapped mounting points. Very solid feel that gives me confidence in the security of my device!

Does what it does.
Small, but can hold my monitor attached to the cold shoe of my camera. does exactly what it's supposed to do. might be hard to get accessories on the cold shoe mount if you have a tripod that obstructs the bottom, but with the right cold shoe accessories this works great!

Does the job as expected
I'm very impressed with the quality of this product and very thankful for the reviews that made me make this purchase. Works perfectly on iPads, tablets in general and slimmer devices only issue is that it can be a bit tricky to tighten on not so slim devices due to the clamp mechanism but not a deterrent.
