Absolutely worth it
The media could not be loaded. I was simply looking for more cubes / tunnels for our cats when I stumbled across this toy. At first I was skeptical, like other reviewers, about buying two pieces of carpet. (We're pretty handy) But the reviews are terrific and the description gives a lot of detail about the design and thought that went into it. Plus it's made of non-toxic recycled materials! So I gave it a shot, and I'm very happy I did.First of all, it's high quality. The rug is low pile (no catching claws) and rubber-backed. There's no fraying at the edges. Same with the holes, all of various sizes for various play. You can cut them larger if you like, but we haven't felt the need. The velcro is secure. The rug is just floppy & stiff enough to work with. You lay down the base rug, which is approximately 4' x 3', and then in one creative way or another you drop the top rug down so that it has peaks & valleys, tunnels & cubby holes. There are a few velcro patches on the underside of it so that it secures in place. Sometimes we've attached one of our cat tunnels to an opening to expand the fun, but they seem to like the Ripple Rug best by itself. We try to rearrange it every few days to give the cats something new to inspect. There's frequently one cat or another lying on the rug. A few love to scratch it like a flat scratcher. We toss small toys inside that they like to fish for. One cat likes to "hide" inside, his front half only, even though he'd fit inside all the way (he's special like that). Another loves to hide inside & play with anyone who approaches. They all enjoy it in one way or another. It was definitely money well spent.

This is an excellent product! I have two cats that are a year and a half. My female cat was excited about The Ripple Rug from the time that I opened it. She instantly jumped into it and knew exactly what to do. She poked her head in and out of the holes, jumped in and out, and had a blast. My male cat was afraid of it for about a day, but he figured it out soon enough and now enjoys it a lot. They both enjoy jumping in and out of the holes, with or without toys that are hidden within the rug. Sometimes they play alone. Other times they play together. The velcro is very adhesive, and there are many combinations of tunnels and ripples that you can make. The velcro stays put, yet the ripples move around when the cats move and can easily be adjusted. It folds up easily enough into its original bag, which can be stored in a cabinet or leaned against a wall. An additional pro is that it is made in the USA. I do not leave the ripple rug out. First, as with any other toy, cats can get bored with it. I lay it down 2 times a week or so, which keeps the toy "new" in their eyes. Second, while the rug has safety precautions regarding the holes (slits are cut into most) I do not leave it out because the toy involves their head and body going through something and the paranoid side of me wants to play it safe. As stated before, most of the holes have the safety slits cut into them which allow for movement. There are two holes (I think) which were a small to medium size hole which would appear that no cat's head would fit into. My female is a tiny cat (less than 8 pounds) and she did attempt to poke her head through one of those holes. I am pretty sure that she could have gotten herself out of it, but mild panic on her part began to set in and I immediately pulled her out. It was a quick fix, as I cut four slits in those holes with complete ease and without harm to the rug. One final recommendation is that there some groups of holes (again...maybe 2 sets?) that are about 2 inches in diameter spaced about 2 inches apart. I cut between the two holes to connect them, and now the cats can go through them with ease. Use your judgment, but my recommendation is to play it safe and cut the extras slits into the medium holes and cut the space between the sets of holes. It doesn't hurt the rug and should provide extra peace of mind. Cats are finicky, and what's true for one cat isn't necessarily true for another. However, my cats really like The Ripple Rug, and based on their happiness and excitement, I would recommend it.

my rowdy cat loves it, my chill cat loves it.
TL;DRGreat product, very, very, very entertaining for my cats, they love it. I would recommend it for any cat-- hyper or chill/ 2+ cat households who get up to heated rough-housing. Well made, flexibility of material is just right, I agree the material/ construction is safety-conscious. However, I would observe a larger cat for the first few times they play with it, make adjustments to holes as needed. This toy is easy to store away. Haven't washed it, but should be fine. Overall, A+!! Meow!____**5/27/18 EDIT** I just wanted to say that I've lowered my rating on this rug. The cats still like it and sleep/lounge on it all the time, which is why I only deducted one star. As the human customer I would've deducted two if they (the cats) started completely ignoring it-- but they haven't. My human reason for the deduction is that the top rug with holes has lost all of its stiffness, so it is this floppy second rug that just sits all tangled up without giving any dimensional space for the cats to use (like others have complained about) It doesn't hold its shape so that cats can't play with it as it is intended (and, I know they LOVED THE BONKERS OUT OF IT when it had the ability to hold a shape--see the rest of my original post for that) I tried washing it because some other customers said that washing it gave it a little more of the original hold/shape. I tried just doing a rinse and spin and laid it out to air dry-- but it didn't revive any of the hold whatsoever. I'm wondering if others used detergent and that helped? I will try it with detergent, otherwise I'm just going to say that the actual purpose of the rug was great but short-lived, which is a real shame. I speak solely as my cats' human when I say that is certainly not worth the money for just a "sleeping rug" I could have gotten that for way less money-- just saying.______The Nitty Gritty:This seemed like a possible hit (but with cats, sometimes you never know) Glad to say I think it has exceeded a lot of expectation-- it is very well made, both my cats love this thing very much. The one I mainly bought it for (Lassi-- who is a year and a half, is generally on the smaller side and very rowdy/ hyperactive), she goes hog-wild whenever we bring it out. We have a small apartment and can't keep it out all of the time, but I think that having it put away some of the time inadvertently creates some suspenseful excitement, but I doubt they would grow tired of it since we leave it out for extended periods of time and they keep coming back to it. The other cat, Sue, liked it very much despite being much older and generally subdued. I have found both of them sleeping in it a few times, separately and together. Sue likes sitting/scratching / laying on it and watching Lassi go darting under the rug, and has even uncharacteristically participated from time to time. Which is what I was hoping I would accomplish with this rug. They have always liked play fighting with each other, they play that way A LOT. But, rarely do they share interest in the same kind of toys. For the ones they do like in common, it always ends up that one hesitates to play with a toy if the other cat shows interest. More importantly, half the time their play fighting goes sour-- I was told a "distraction object" during these sessions helps the cats play amicably for a sustainable amount of time. So far, the ripple rug is a toy they willingly play with together, allowing them the chance to still play kinda "rough" without a heated escalation. So, it worked for that!As far as the material goes, no nails have been caught on the fabric-- as promised. Some people have mentioned having trouble keeping particular shapes with the top rug, or losing stiffness. I find this not to really be the case as of yet, re-configuring the top rug or getting it to keep a shape has not been a big problem. I personally think it's just the right flexibility because shapes will inevitably change as the cats play with it-- which I gather is what my cats enjoy most about it. That said, it's able to fold nicely and stored away when necessary. I haven't washed it, so we'll see about that when the time comes. The bottom rug has a good anti-slip material.Something to note for cats who either have larger frames or, are over weight: Sue is just slightly above average in size, and did get accidentally caught in one of the smaller holes once (I haven't adjusted those smaller holes because since then Sue has learned to only use the larger holes just fine). But that can be avoided altogether, if you are worried, it is an easy fix with adjusting the safety cuts by lengthening them. I would recommend observing a larger cat at first just to make sure they can fit through the ones intended as entrances, and make the adjustments as needed. Haven't had any further issues with that.
