Quit scraping your fingers across the stock cast iron grate in hopes of getting enough air to properly ignite your charcoal. Do it already. This thing is great. Chunk the stock grate in the trash and feel good about it. Don’t look back.

I am new to Kamado grilling but in my humble opinion this is a not an optional accessory. It is so useful for airflow and multi-zone cooking that it's a little surpising (and annoying) that it does not come as standard equipment. Be that as it may, like the rest of the Kamado Joe, it is very solidly built and should last years and years. If you just got your grill you need to order this and the cover.

Took a star off for the price. Like everything Kamado Joe it has to be expensive. It works really well and i like the divider if you want to cook one just one side of the grill this will help a lot. If you are using the JoeTisserie and want to isolate your heat to the back this will definitely do the trick. It seems very sturdy as well. I had debated between this and the Ki** a** basket and chose this because of the divider. No regrets. I did remove the built in bottom piece on the classic Joe 2 as others have said. I see no need for it with the basket.
