Honeywell Intrusion 5898 Wireless Dual-TEC Motion Detector

I did not want any false alarms for my mother-in-law's house so I spent the extra $$$ to get this over the standard PIR sensor. When you are setting it up, read the instructions very very carefully. There are several modes of testing, the Enroll walk testing and the Microwave testing. Learn how to get into each mode and understand what the flashing LED's correspond to.Once you understand that the sensor uses both PIR and microwave to prevent false alarms, then you will begin to understand why this sensor is more expensive.Also don't forget to exit the Microwave test mode too :) once you are done. I am almost forget.

This motion sensor requires both infrared and radar movements to signal a fault. During testing I was standing in front of detector. The opening and closing of my hand by my side set off the yellow LED (radar). Every time I opened my hand it'd see a yellow light. Take a step and the green light (infrared) would briefly light prior to turning red (alarm fault). The sensitivity and protection from false alarms is amazing.I have a hard wired system and this is my first wireless device. Works great and I'm wondering if I should've bothered running all of those wires.

Bought this to perform a DIY overhaul of my 20 year old hardwired alarm system and to add these wireless units. Today, burglars are no longer prying the doors and windows open. They are just smashing the glass in patio doors which requires motion detectors and glass break sensors to get full protection.

This sensor was an easy addition to our current system. I had tech service walk me through the install amd test and the sensors functions perfectly. I needed to install about a foot higher than the manual specified but it is working great and covers a large area.

Can't get into the room without beeing detected. You can't even pass the room inside the house if the door of the room where the detector is installed is left open.
