All I’ve ever used
Currently I’m 66. Haven’t installed wheel bearings for a few years. Never owned a new vehicle until I turned 51. So before that I had installed many wheel bearings on the many used vehicles I had owned. Bought my 1st car at 17. Total piece of junk but it did start, run and go down the road. Pretty quickly found out it needed wheel bearings. My Uncle, a career farmer, told me to get Timken bearings because they were the best. I did and have bought nothing else since. I have never had a Timken bearing fail me. I bought a used 4WD pickup and put new front Timken bearings in it. I put over 300,000 miles on that truck and never had a front bearing fail. I did take them out and repack them at about 200,000 miles. I do have one observation about these new bearings. The retainer that holds the bearings in place until they get into the hub is plastic. I’ve never seen that before. But given that all it does is keep the roller bearings in place until they’re installed into the hub I don’t believe it will be an issue.
