loved it
Was sad at the beginning. I hate when people are so cruel to dogs. Jet definitely tugged at my heartstrings

Great series
Really well written series. I agree that the abuse of this poor dog is painful to read at the beginning of the story but realistic and a teaching moment for children. I've enjoyed reading this series with my 7 year old and look forward to reading more books in this series.

Interesting Topic
My nine year old and I are enjoying this story. It is well written, gives good conversation points about animal care/training and the bond between dogs and their humans.

Gut-wrenching abuse in the beginning... hard to get past
So, we love this series. But this book went on for three and a half heartbreaking chapters in three beginning about this dog and the abuse he endures in his puppy years. It’s awful. I am not a very sensitive person, and I’m an adult reading it to me ten year old, and it made me physically sick to my stomach. It was way too much. I understand setting the book up for the dog to be rescued, but by the time we had read 25-30 minutes, it was still barely out of the abuse portion. And then it was bedtime. This didn’t make us want to read more, and it was just overkill, especially for a book meant for kids/teens.The book, Ember, from this series, is fantastic, and sets the scene without causing so much headache. I might skip this one if you or your child love animals.
