The best boat shoe for my needs....
I'm a shoe freak - I have dozens of pairs of most styles. My favor are boat shoes though. Once worn in, nothing compares to how comfortable they are. And, they're very versatile. That being said, I like old school boat shoes, not the newer cheaply made ones. First, the leather needs to be high quality. These have that in droves. The leather looks great and feels tough - like it will last a long time. Second and most important for me is that they need to be leather lined. Most brands have ditched this more expensive feature for cheaper, heavier padded textile linings. They may be better with socks (debatable though), but one area they clearly are not is being worn barefoot. If you plan to where barefoot, leather linings are a must. Much more comfortable and will not stink like the textile linings invariable do. Sperry used to make their AO's like this, but have gone the thinner leather and softer sole route. Now, your lucky if you get a year, maybe 2 out of them. These Sebagos will last much longer, giving you time to build a fine, bettering with age relationship with them. Trust, it is worth it. These are fantastic boat shoes.

Great boat shoe!
I bought these for my husband, who was looking to replace his beloved Dockers. He wears these without socks and I was worried about them being too tight after reading the reviews. Going from a well worn shoe to a new one, is always a challenge. When he first tried them on, they did feel too tight. So, of course I googled "how to stretch leather shoe". The solution we tried was to put a large baking potato inside the shoe for a couple of days. Sounds strange, but that's what we did. We sat them out on the deck in the hot sun for a couple of days, then took out the potato and let them cool in the air conditioning. Bottom line, they fit beautifully and he wears them nearly every day. We have a winner! I hope these will always be available, so when needed, I can just order online!

Beware of the sizing, these seem to run large.................
I’ve worn Docksides in the past but not within the last several years. I typically wear a size 11, 2E and the first pair I ordered in this size almost fit like a size 12 or larger. So, I reordered a size 10.5 2E and the fit was much better. The construction seems top notch and the leather is quite supple. While I haven’t yet worn them often, they’re exactly what I was expecting, a nice casual shoe that could be worn with dinning out casual attire or very casual day wear.

Five years and counting
Bought these five years ago. Don’t wear every day or even every week but whenever I reach for them they’re ready to go. Expecting great arch support? Look elsewhere, these are boat shoes. But if you’re looking for the quintessential boat shoe, appropriate for almost every occasion and comfortable for what they are designed to do, these are it. Durable and good looking. Would buy again and considering a second pair.

Sebago continues to make top quality shoes
Have worn Sebago shoes for years and find them to be of excellent quality and great for all day comfort. When it was time to get a new pair, I could not find my size in a narrow. It turns out, the regular fits great. I was concerned that maybe Sebago was slipping as some of the reviews were not flattering. Glad to know they are still making great shoes. Be sure to order a half size smaller than your regular size. I wear a 10.5-11.0, so I ordered in a 10.0 and the fit is perfect.

Bites Your Heels Like a Little Dog.
The heels on my Sperry boat shoes are just about worn out and I read some online reviews that said Sebago boat shoes are supposed to be the best thing since slice bread. Well them reviews are wrong. The back of the leather is stiff and narrow, therefore every time I walk the leather digs and bites into my heel and now I have a painful red blister there. It's not so bad when I wear socks, but you can forget about going barefoot in these. I tried the break in process of two weeks, without success. Also, the leather liner inside does not extend all the way to the front and the cushion insole is so thin that you feel every vibration going up to your knees, while walking. These shoes have zero cushion comfort inside, but they do look nice. Therefore 1 star for aesthetics, but docking 4 stars for fit and comfort. I finally tossed them in the trash tonight, since the company sends you a note in the box that you cannot return them once they are worn. Chalk this one up to an expensive lesson. Price does not always indicate quality/comfort.

Beautiful
This shoe is a beautiful shoe.......the leather is smooth and supple and is constructed very well. Sizing proved to be a challenge as I usually wear a 10 or 10/12, but they were way too large. I ended up ordering a 9 1/2 and the fit is perfect (I do not wear socks with these shoes). The shoe is very comfortable right out of the box. The higher price of this shoe almost made me not order them, but I'm glad I did. They are well worth the extra bucks.
