Having unrelaxed soft fine shoulder length African American (mixed with many other ethnicities) ...
Being new to oils for hair care I was skeptical about how an oil could improve hair health without making it a gloppy mess. Having unrelaxed soft fine shoulder length African American (mixed with many other ethnicities) hair with seborrihic dermatitis that causes a dry flaky and itchy scalp, made me even more nervous. After reading some reviews I decided to try Gio Natuals Carrier gift set with Argan, Castor, Tamanu and Jojoba oils and boy am I glad I did! I received them a few days ago and started using them right away. So far, I've used the Castor, Tamanu and Argan oils with amazing results. I mix a drop or two of each, warm it in my hands, massage into scalp then rub lightly on ends. My hair's not greasy, scalp is alot less itchy and flaky. The Tamanu oil scared me at first b/c of it's thick greenish appearance, but has REALLY done wonders for me in a very short amount of time. I can't wait to see the long term benefits as I know I will not be disappointed. Now let me tell you about the impressive customer service I received. After placing my order, they sent me a sort of welcoming email asking me to let them know if I had any questions or needed anything. They monitored my order to make I received it in tact, then waited a few days to contact me to give me tips on how and what to use the oils on. I already ordered and have the 4 oz bottle of Castor oil and will be ordering the 4oz bottles of the other oils soon. The gift set contains 1oz bottles of oils with an empty bottle for you to mix your own concoction. All bottles are dark brown glass to protect the potency and integrity of these precious oils and each has its own glass dropper. All come sealed and shipped with attention to detail so that there isn't any leakage. The 4oz bottles come with a sealed flat cap on it with a pump spray (wrapped in bubble wrap) with plastic cap that fits over spray nozzle to keep air from clogging the nozzle. Each oil comes in a brown cardboard box, again to keep out the light as light of any kind will weaken the strength thus compromising oil integrity. I am extremely pleased with these oils and the attention to detail from their excellent customer service which is sometimes lacking these days. This review is my own opinion, written by me in my own words and I did NOT receive any discounted and/or free item of any kind. I was moved to write this review in the hopes that someone with my hair and scalp issues (which are greatly being helped by these oils), can benefit from them. Try them, you won't be sorry. Eileen

UNETHICAL & UNSAFE - RANCID BLACK OIL - FAKE EXPIRATION DATE!
DON'T BUY THIS. OMG - TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICE. I placed order on February 3, 2019 and was excited to receive these oils. Both the Jojoba oil and Castor oil smelled like they were possibly 'old' and maybe turning bad, but I thought maybe it was just this particular brand and I tried them anyway. When I got to the Tamanu oil a few days later, the oil was BLACK and had a very bad smell (see my photo attached). Having had no experience with Tamanu oil, I thought maybe it was some special oil (like a black salve) and was supposed to have a strange odor. I rubbed it above my upper lip where I have a scar from recent surgery. (The oil says it's good for scars). I guess I should have know better than to use it, but when the smell started nauseating me in a less than a minute - I knew something was very wrong. I then googled this oil and I read that it is supposed to be yellowish to greenish and "DON'T USE IF BLACK BECAUSE IT IS ROTTEN"! I immediately I scrubbed my face thoroughly but it still smells from that oil 3 hours later as I am writing this review. It got in my mouth too. Ugh. I'm worried that it is some black mold. Then, I checked the box to see if it was out of date and I on close look, I saw that the Expiration date sticker had another stick under it! I peeled off the top sticker which said Expiration 09-2019 but it was unscrupulously placed on top of an older sticker with an OUT OF DATE stamp of 12-2018! OMG - HOW DECEPTIVE!! So they sold an expired potentially unsafe product and gave it a PHONY expiration date. (See my photos attached of the two stickers). Who knows if the 12-2018 was a fake date? Maybe they peeled off a 12-2017 date!! (This oil seems like it expired long before 12-2018). So this wasn't the case of a product that just went bad. Hey, we all know that happens sometimes. But this was known to be rotten. Putting a fake expiration date on a product to be put on your body and absorded into the skin? Totally dispreputable! And btw, look at the faded, rubbed off bar code sticker on the bottom right of the box in my photo). The box looks like it was sitting on the shelf for years! ZERO STARS IS WHAT THIS DESERVES!

Not as helpful as I would like
Tamanu Oil: I've tried using the Tamanu oil every day for a month now to see if it will improve my acne. It seems to help calm the redness and give a healthier glow to my skin but it didn't get rid of the acne. This was the biggest disappointment out of all the bottles. (BTW, this oil stinks,... just a warning). Guess I was expecting too much from something that isn't officially "acne medicine".Argan Oil: I've used this for my hair occasionally, but I don't think I need it. Left unwashed, I'll get the same "silly" oily look as it describes on the bottle. I've also used it on my face. It gave my face a nice healthy glow.Caster Oil: It says to use it on your hair to promote hair growth/strength/etc. It's as thick as honey (rather than a light oil) which was unexpected and made it hard to work with. I couldn't just leave it in my hair to be absorbed, I had to wash it out.Jajoba Oil: I tried it as a make up remover like it says on the bottle. Didn't seem to work.Summary: Overall, I'm disappointed that most of the uses I've tried with these oils haven't really worked for me. I don't think I would recommend this product.
