Within Heaven's Gates (Originally Entitled Intra Muros) Mass Market Paperback – Illustrated, April 1, 1984

I came across this book when I had cancer many years ago. After reading it, I couldn't wait to go to heaven! As a born again believer in Jesus Christ my eternal home is in heaven and this gave me a wonderful glimpse into what is waiting for me. The author offers a disclaimer stating she doesn't know if she actually was in heaven or had a vision of heaven. Either way, it's amazing. I worked in a Christian book store and we had a bin full of inexpensive and discounted books and every time I saw one I bought it. I gave them to anyone who was suffering from a life threatening illness or had a loved one pass away. I even gave my own copy away and just recently bought this one (now more expensive, HA!) promising myself not to give this one away. It's a short read but an encouraging read. If they'd offer them cheap in bulk, I'd buy a bunch!

Words can’t describe the joy of reading this book. Somehow I just know this is reality. I believe and I want to be there too but I know I have my loved ones to work on and pray for here in this world. Beautiful book to read.

I love this book. It's a remarkable story of a woman in the 1800's who was a good distance away from home when she got I'll at the home of friends and remained there 3 weeks. At that point in a very weakened state her deceased brother in law came to the French door in her room and asked her to come with him for a rest. She went in his arms and awoke in a place of perfect beauty that she slowly realizes is heaven and she describes in great detail her experience which seems to last several years but one day wakes up back in her friends upstairs bedroom and is well enough to return home to her husband and son, having not lost any time since she left. She then is careful to say she does not claim she went to heaven, but only relates the experience that she had. It brought such comfort to my heart & I believe it would comfort anyone who has lost a loved one and longs to see them again. I have given it & recommended it to anyone I know going through that.

I have been reading books on the afterlife for several years now, and never seem to tire of the beautiful accounts of what awaits us and our loved ones upon "death".This book gives yet another beautiful account of the Other Side. Many similarities can be seen between this account, and the accounts of those who've had near-death-experiences. There is 1 major difference though between this and the other books I've read - and that is that this book is of a decidly christian flare. Because of this, many of the things stated at the end do not resemble what others have found on their glorious "trip" to Heaven.It's my firm belief that each of these books has something to offer, as they each describe one "mansion" of the many that are available to us when we continue with our life after we leave this earth. It's like the blind describing an elephant - one will describe the trunk and think that's all there is, one the ear, one the body and one the legs - each thinking that what they are feeling is the whole of the elephant. I feel that way about descriptions of the Afterlife - no one account is complete in its description.Although this book may offend people who are not of the christian faith, I do believe it has a lot to offer to everyone. I found myself smiling while reading about the beautiful river, sea and temple - and I believe that the descriptions of these in and of themselves make this book a wonderful read.

Love how much this is giving me life and a new perspective on the after life! So comforting and inspiring!

I recently lost my son, reading this book helped me better understand the life in the upper place which my heart so desires to go and live with my Lord and Savior. I only want what God has set before me and to know that I will see my son and know other relatives that have crossed over before me is exciting and peaceful. The thought of leaving the earthly cares behind and concentrating on our Fathers business in heaven is so very enlightening and stimulating to my being, the river of life that I have been taught about is so inviting to my mind, body and soul. The thought of the river washing the earthly cares away is simply amazing. Thank you for sharing what God has allowed you to experience and reveal to us who are left behind here on earth. What a powerful portion of God's grace we can look forward to in our life to come.

I buy several at a time to keep on hand for friends at times of loss. Great book.
