Falls out of optical socket too easy
I needed an optical cable to connect my Samsung TV to a soundbar, I decided to go for this cable from Rhino-cable.Item arrived well packed, and on first impressions, seemed to be of decent quality. The problem came when I plugged the cable into the optical out from my tv and discovered there was no satisfying distinctive clicking sound as the cable enters the socket.Instead, the cable was rather loose and by the time I had tried to plug the other end into my soundbar, it had fallen out of the tv?.I ended up digging through an old bag of cables and finding an optical cable that I had received with a Sony mini disc player years before and not only did it click into the socket as I expected, it works perfectly too.So, in a nutshell, I personally can’t recommend this cable in any shape or form. It looks the part but in plain terms, it just does not fit the optical audio socket properly - it doesn’t click into place and falls out really easily, very strange! My advice is , looks around and pick something else!

Superb Optical Cable
This cable is very well constructed and the metal terminations/plugs are of very good quality. The plugs fitted tightly and securely from the optical 'out' on my Sky HD box to my Audiolab 8200 CD player's optical 'in'. I had no difficulty plugging in the male plugs on the cable to my Sky box and Audiolab 8200 CD player's sockets at all. The cable is very flexible and of a good quality and diameter. This optical lead is far better quality than the price it is being sold for would lead you to think. As a fully qualified electrician with over 40 years experience, I have worked with many different types of cables, so feel easily well qualified to comment on this cable. Don't let the low price make you think this is just a cheap rubbishy cable, it is far from it. I rate this cable at 5 stars regardless of the low price it is being sold for. In my opinion it is worth far more than the price it is being sold for by Rhinocables. Buy it and bag a bargain while you can! Guarantee you will, like me, not be disappointed but pleasantly surprised just how good this cable actually is. I am so pleased with this cable that I have ordered another one, the only difference is the length (this one 3m and the new order 5m). Good enough recommendation?

Connecting A 2 B
I'm my haste to use the product, I almost forgot to remove the dust covers over the terminalsYet once installed the output/ input cable produced good quality sound that was very pleasing. To which I'll enjoy for the foreseeable future.

Needs must
Wall mounted TV + Table mounted sound bar = A need for long cables. The length of this product was one of my main reasons for ordering it.The cost from a high street store would have been ridiculous = Shopping on Amazon is ecconomiccally brilliant.Have tested the optical abilites and they seem to be fine ie unbroken...light in one end - light out the other end.I dont understand why "Gold Plated " is used as a selling piont - the cable does NOT carry any electrical componants - it carries an optical signal along a fibre ( glass or plastic ).With a bit of luck, the red light ( or any colour of light for that matter ) will not wear the fibre out.Suitably impressed.

Terrible connector
Do not bother. The connector is large and clunky. It does not fit the port properly and remains loose. It means you lose signal and have to continuously unplug the cable and fiddle to get it back. Spend a little more and buy a decent cable or try one of the alternatives.Such a shame.

Great cable
Very well made cable with quality metal-finished terminations/plugs. The gold-plating of the ends of the cables is probably done to ensure mechanical protection is maintained throughout the use of the cable as gold does not corrode or oxidise. Even though gold is a very good electrical conductor, it is not used for this purpose in this type of cable. The cable is very flexible and the male plugs fit to my Samsung blu-Ray player's output and Audiolab 8200CD player's input optical sockets tightly and securely and go in with a satisfying click. Very reasonably priced also. Recommend this cable with no reservation.

A useful gadget
This little coupler allows me to produce a longer fibre optic by joining two of my existing cables, which is much cheaper than buying a long cable.

Do not buy this cable.
Cable will not stay in optical ports on either the TV, or Amp. The ends are designed too small. Never had this before. Had to tape them in place to keep it working. Do not buy this cable. It is sub standard.
