If decide to use coconut oil make sure to read recipe #27 - it has info other coconut oil recipes do not
My favorite lib balm has gotten quite expensive and I was curious to see if I can experiment with making my own. This book contains 35 different recipes. A number of recipes use coconut oil, however only one of the recipes (#27) contains a warning that the lip balm should be kept in a cool place as the key ingredient, coconut oil, liquefies pretty fast. Seems like this warning should be in every recipe with the coconut oil as it is a pretty major minus for a lip balm, I never store my lip balm in a cold place and doing so would be highly inconvenient. On the positive side I thought the book had clear instructions and a good variety of options. On the negative side the book has ads for the authors other undertakings through out the book with "click here" links. Note that having references in the Appendix would not have bothered me, it is only having the ads peppered through out the book that I find unpleasant.Ali Julia review

Great book for learning how to make lip balms, but.....
Just starting making lip balms, and needed a little guidance on how to formulate them. Very helpful in that regard, and gave me some good ideas on combining different oils, butters, beeswax etc. However, the recipes do not say what the yield of each recipe is, so you don't know how many lip balms you're making. Most of the ingredients are pretty natural, but when I came upon a recipe that called for petroleum jelly, I was shocked. Luckily it's just that one recipe I think. Not interested in using lanolin either (a couple recipes). Still the best book on lip balms I could find on Amazon.

I am already disappointed without even attempting to make anything yet
Well, just from reviewing this book, I am already disappointed without even attempting to make anything yet. If you are going to write a how-to project book on something, it needs more than just a bunch of recipes. Every recipe in this book starts with some variation of "get your containers ready". Okay. How? What containers? Why is there not an introduction to this book that includes important information like, which types of containers are usable (pot vs tube vs something else) and where to buy such containers? Every recipe requires "oils". Why are these not specific to which type of oils (Carrier vs Essential)? Essential oils can be dangerous if not handled properly. There should be some background on types of oils, their differences and safe handling practices. There are 14 recipes that require coconut oil, but only on one recipe is there a notation that the "lip balm should be kept cool, lest it run because coconut oil liquefies pretty fast". Why was this not an important fact to mention in the first recipe instead of halfway through the book? Regardless of the disclaimer in the back, this book reflects someone who poorly threw together some ideas to make a quick buck, rather than an avid crafter who wants to teach and share their knowledge properly.

Super. So far I have tried one recipe Olive ...
Super. So far I have tried one recipe Olive Honey lip balm. Instead of Honey I used Vitamin E oil. Fantastic. Store bought lip balms did not work on my daughter. I have tried other diy lip balms posted on internet. Did not work. This recipe cured my daughters super chapped lips. Many thanks for the recipes.I suggest adding tiny amount of Vitamin E oil if the lip balm still does not feel very moisturizing.I also like Keepie Factory 50 Empty Lip Balm Containers sold here on amazon. I good combination with this kindle recipe book.

THE Lip Balm Guide!!!
Can't recommend this book enough. It makes lip balm completely accessible, and Moore's tone is excited without being fake or unrelatable. These recipes are all accompanied by photos of them each, with lots of ideas for containers too! Definitely check it out if you'd like to make your own balms but don't know where to start.

Basic Book
The lip balm recipes are very basic, and I personally would use very few of these. Badly formatted and no photos, but random adverts in the middled of the book

Nice book for the money
Really like the recipes in this book! Combinations are inventive and there are a lot of them, using many different ingredients. You could easily mix and match once you pick a good base recipe
