Are the straps strong enough for skidding with a fixed gear bike?

Absolutely! The Origin 8 Pedal Straps are definitely a inexpensive and quality product. I had no issues with them. The only negative for me was that they never seemed to loosen up, they were always rather course and stiff and never quite contoured to my feet. So, I ended up replacing them with Fyxation's Pedal Strap Straps and they have been perfect! Another brand comparable brand for pedal straps are Hold Fast. Either are excellent. However, the Origin 8 pedal straps are a good inexpensive entry level strap too. -Ride Hard!

Are these long enough to be secure on wide feet?

Yes. These work on wide feet. Straps are long.

Straps only. They are nice, My wife likes them, easy to get in-and-out-of.
