Markings by C.R. Gibson Debossed Italian Leatherette Journal - Red (MJ16-6118)

I am a journal collector. I sometimes hate to write in the pretty ones! This one is so much nicer than I expected for the low price. I bought a red one for myself and a black one for my son who is also a writer and was looking for something to jot down his thoughts. The red is really stunning and I am not a big fan of red in general. But it is rich and not at all garish. It has a subtle design in the corner and the pages also have that design,. It is not a feminine one, just a scroll type (see pics). The magnetic closure is strong. It is not a snap but an invisible magnet. The journal also has a string bookmark attached in the same color as the book. While I don't think it looks like real leather, my husband thought it was and asked me how much money I dropped on it. When I told him $5.00, he was shocked but pleased because he knows how much I love real leather journals - and how much I pay to get them. This one is just for fun. I don't mind marring the pages and tossing it into my car because it was so inexpensive. I really like it and feel the value is excellent. I will be buying all the colors.

This is one classy piece of yes. I've always wanted a nice leather-bound journal, but I'm not paying $50 for a stack of dead tree covered in dead animal, no no no. But I'm looking around and- HEY WHAT'S THIS? $5?!?!? Holy jeebus this looks nice, and its ruled paper and everything cuz the lord almighty knows my writing, if unguided, is about as straight as Elton John, and only looks about as good, too (sad face).This is amazing for the price. However, I would personally describe the ruling as "As Wide as if Chris Farley procreated with Jonah Hill (pre-21 Jump Street, like I'm talking his Superbad days)," and if this were the quality of paper Dunder Mifflin produced, then Michael Scott is way better off having left. I kid, i kid, the paper is okay and to be honest the ruling is probably college ruled. What's on the inside though is not quite as good as what's on the outside (although the first cover pager inside is pretty nice, I wish it was all like that) but hey here in America it seems what's on the outside is the only thing that matters, right? Right?...All in all though it is an amazing journal, with a nice little ribbon bookmark thingymajiggy and all, and it looks awesome and I am very very happy to own it. I highly recommend; you will not find a nice one for this price.

Cute and cheap. Great as a gardening journal. Don't love that I had to use Goo Gone to get the label off and that (of course) stained the leatherette. I wouldn't get as a gift because with the label on it, it seems cheap (I know, it IS cheap, but would seem like a high quality gift if not for the sticker).The paper is nice quality. It has a ribbon book marker. The clasp holds it closed nicely.For myself, I really really love it. Just be forewarned if you are giving as a gift.

Although I am a big fan of C.R. Gibson journals, and generally quite pleased with the quality. In this particular item, I am disappointed. As an avid writer, I like to put my thoughts down in a quality journal. I guess you get what you pay for. But, since it has Gibson's name on it, I had hoped something of higher quality.The low-down: The "Debossed Italian Leather" cover feels more like plastic. The back has scuffs on it and the sticker left a very gooey residue. The item does not even feel like the quality of the other journals I have used. I know this is going to sound strange, but it doesn't even have that "quality" smell of a good journal.My advice, spend a few more dollars for a quality journal if you want a quality medium to keep your thoughts organized. C.R. Gibson has better quality journals for just a few bucks more. I won't be buying this one again, but Gibson does still rank high in my "book." :)

You can actually buy this at a Walgreens, just saying. Overall you pay for what you get. I received the product in bad conditions. The front cover was unglued which made the book open in an awkwardly manner. The magnet strip does not work efficiently, and the pages are too thick for my taste. I did not send it back. Honestly I would not cry over a few bucks. NEXT!

I purchased these for my staff in the office - I always aim for something not too expensive and un-offensive. This seemed to fit the bill. Unfortunately every single one of them had a deep scratch under the label on the back. Either they used the label to cover the scratch or their method of applying the label scratched the product. Five stars, except for the scratches.

I was looking around for a good journal to use and I came across this!It's a pretty good journal, the carvings? are pretty classy, nothing tacky on it. The magnetic clasp seen in the picture is indented so it's not obstructive to stacking it anywhere and is easily carried. The pages are lined, and have a single symbol on the top left and top right of each page, but nothing else, so it's pretty open to whatever you want to write! It also has a hanging bookmarker so you can mark your page with that, and that's pretty cool! Like someone said, it is sold at Walgreens, but for $9 plus tax, so if you have Prime, buy it here on Amazon! Great little journal though! :)

This is a bargain if you like to keep a log or a diary....The book is a nice weight and the magnet closure is a nice feature.Paper weight is great, it takes the ink nicely, not to thin and not too thick.I have tried several other books like this only to have them fall apart and the pages slip out.I have been using this book now for 3 months and I am still pleased with the quality.The cover is faux leather but unless you are holding it you can not tell. It looks like high quality binding.I am not sure why this is under review with almost all positive reviews.You will want this one for the money!!!Worth the cost!!
