Wrist Action and Patience Make This Tool Very Good
Now that the holidays are over, I've both used this with a general telescoping pole (heavy duty) putting up the lights and taking down the lights with very curled hooks stuck into the wood frame of my single story, pitched roof home. Going up, it was arduous, a serious workout. But I was able to get most of the lights hooked without using a ladder, and for the tallest spots. It required precise location of putting the metal hook EXACTLY where your hook is and wrist-actioning, twisting the light cord in. I did not realize that, but that's likely due to the kind of general purpose hooks I use. It took a couple of hours.Taking down was WAY easier, maybe after the learning curve, with zero ladder needed, and I was able to wrist-action, twist the cord out after pin-pointing where the metal hook/tool should grab. It still takes a lot of patience and concentration, but it saves me from having to get on a very tall ladder with not the most even ground below, so it's worth it.The only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 stars is because the red, bottom piece that slides over the general pole I purchased comes loose very easily, so you are constantly bringing in the pole and tightening the connector, then going back to fish around with the line and tool. I suppose you could tape it, but I bet it would just shimmy loose anyways. The sliding lock that comes with it didn't really do much for me.

Neat idea but hooks don't stay.
The application of the hooks went ok, several wouldn't place the first time so those were a loss and the price for additional hooks is way overpriced. But the worst part is come the next day after applying all the hooks,30% of them popped off while stringing lights. And don't even get me started on the design of the hook to put them up, I had to abandon that very quickly for fear I might lose my mind. I have no doubt the hooks won't last long and really overall are a huge money and time waster. I won't give this one star because for a one story house it might have its avantages but trying to apply these correctly to a 2-story house is awkward and then, once you believe you are done, to have the hooks fail it is pretty irritating. I will now rent a ladder and do it the correct way instead of cutting corners. Lesson learned.Update*So after seething about all my effort being wasted as hooks came down one by one I got an idea. I had seen a video where people used hot glue guns to temporarily put lights on doorways/windows/brick--basically anywhere you wanted lights but had nothing to attach them to. Glue grabs the lights tight and is totally removeable when you are ready to take the lights down. So I took the hooks, smeared them with hot glue then quickly got them on my wood trim and pressed for 10 seconds. Exactly zero, ZERO, of the hooks came down even as I pulled and prodded the lights into place. So, keep the hooks and glue them in place for a temporary fix to the terrible "super strong" adhesive tape they come with. I tried to use the hook (again) taking down the lights and it was just as cumbersome and irritating as trying to put them up.

Worth it
Bought a new house that has multiple levels and hate getting up on the ladder. Bought this for the ability to hang additional lights on the second floor. There have been a couple of instances where the hooks came loose but they are hanging on by a thread and haven't fallen down. I've had them up all year. I will get out my extension pole when it's time to hang lights again and push the hook up on the gutter and I bet it sticks right back to where it was. Getting the angle right is a little tricky and it was a little stressful until I got the hang of it, but overall, it was a worthwhile purchase to avoid getting on the ladder!

Great idea! But…
It’s a great idea but the hooks don’t stick. So ended up being a waste of time for all the cleaning and recleaning we did once they didn’t stick the first time. So! We figured we made an error and didn’t clean the facade very well. So we did it again. No dice, Chicago!! We were stuck after all that work still getting a ladder to put the lights up. Ugh.

Will Not Use it Next Year!
I initially bought the Light Hanger Pro because we do not own a ladder. The initial installation was very easy. I cleaned all the eaves, gutters, and wood trim where the hooks would be placed, and hung 150' of light around our eaves in about 30 minutes. The next morning there were 4 hooks on the driveway. I guess one fell (the tape came off the actual hook...evidenced by the black square on the eave) and caused a chain reaction. I have since replaced 9 more that have fallen off. All-in-all I'm not too disappointed or surprised by the results as using tape outside is iffy at best; but next year I will save up and buy a ladder. In retrospect, the cost of the kit, extra hooks, shipping, and headache could've been avoided by just buying a ladder and doing it the old fashioned way. Quicker isn't always better. I am giving it 3 stars for ease of operation.

made it easier to install our lights
Definitely made installing our lights much easier this year. We were able to put them on our second story eaves without a ladder. At first, we placed the hooks too close to the front which made putting the lights up difficult - so fair warning, give yourself a few inches as it can be tricky since it's a very simple system. Once we got the hang of it though, it was a breeze.

Once you get the hang of it, works pretty good
was skeptical, but convinced after hanging 3 sets of light. it became automatic, as did taking them back down. worth the time to match the paint and install the hooks, cannot see them unless you actually know they are there. do need to go slowly to ensure full adhesion of the hooks, otherwise.....

MAKING LIFE EASY
I am an old codger who loves hanging lights for Christmas, but hates using his 16' ladder to try and hang the lights. Never looked sharp. Sometimes the wind would knock the plastic clips right off, and boom- lights are down. This system. The part that took the longest was hanging the hooks ( and with the tool, that wasn't hard) Painted the hooks that needed to be painted to blend in. Then went back, and once I got the hang of it, hung the lights in no time. Still needed the ladder, but no big deal. Best my lights have ever looked.
