Gives you piece of mind, but gimmicky
Does it actually kill any bacteria? Probably not, unless you hold it close to a surface or object for quite a long time; the miniature UV-fluorescent tube is simply too small to be effective unless you're trying to sanitize something very tiny, like your pocket change (and why you'd want to do that is beyond me... just wash your hands). It does, however, give you piece of mind that it MIGHT be doing something, and that's really what you're paying for.

Beware – Concerns about the authenticity of this product and therefore by implication the safety
There are a number of very similar looking UV Sanitising Wands on Amazon.I decided to buy this particular one from Crown LED GmbH because it shows the TUV Rheinland logo on the Amazon advert and on the packaging and instruction leaflet for the product.First, a little background…For those who may not know, TUV accreditation is a German independent and respected quality testing system for products and companies. There are a number of TUV organisations in Germany and TUV Rheinland is a prominent one.A bit like the old British ‘Kitemark’ quality standard, if a product has been accredited by TUV you can be confident it has been tested for quality, safety and efficiency and will conform to EU standards.Products will generally come with a certificate of conformity. For example, you frequently see own brand consumer products from the German supermarkets Lidl and Aldi that are TUV tested and accredited. So back to the product…On receiving the CROWN LED GmbH UV sterilizing wand I noticed that it did not come with a certificate of conformity. I also saw that it had the Euro CE marking on the outer packaging but not on the product itself. As the product packaging shows the TUV Rheinland logo, I decided to look it up on their website, where you can search for accredited products, companies and individuals. (If you want to do it, just Google ‘TUV Rheinland’ and on the home page click on the Certipedia link to the searchable database.)Despite entering different combinations of search terms for the product and company I could find no record of either as being accredited by TUV Rheinland. If the company and product is genuinely accredited I would have thought it likely that a ‘findable’ reference would be included with the product as it would reinforce the quality of the offering. So it’s up to you whether you buy this, but you have been warned.
