Best pack for the price bar none
Ive taken my USMC Gen II ILBE Digital MARPAT Assault Pack on many adventures and is has performed amazingly. Its not perfect but it has served me very very well. When my environment is 100% urban I've gotten by with an older briggs messenger bag that has also performed fantastically. As circumstances changed, and I found myself needing to carry more stuff, traveling a lot more and finding myself in multiple climates in short periods of time the messenger just wasn't cutting it space wise and I often had a a ruck and my messenger which was unwieldy at best. I wanted something that would blend into urban and travel environments better than the Marpat pack and hoped also to find some worthwhile improvements. In furtherance of that goal I picked up the Hazard 4 Patrol Pack, the Maxpedition Falcon 2, the 5.11 Rush 24, and the Spec Ops UAP.I had some extra cash so I ended up going with the UAP. But if I was on a budget this would have been my choice. You can sometimes score them around double digits. This doesnt have a ll the bells and whistles of some of the other packs, but for this price you can see why its the top seller in tactical backpacks. You get a lot for your money. Lots of organization, fleece lined front pockets, admin pocket, zippers and mesh inside. If you want a pack thats going to get you through your adventures with minimal fuss and minimal wallet impact this is the one. If I knew without a doubt that my pack would be done by the end of my trip, either left behind or beat to death I'd get this one, because Id feel like I got my money's worth out of it. All of the features have been well thought out and work well. It had the most organization of any of the packs. I wish the padding was a little more robust on the shoulder strap but thats made up for a by both a padded back and removable back panel. Also its missing a belt.It also was the mose inconspicuous of the tactical/rugged/molle packs I looked at. It just didn't have the same bulges or eye catching weirdness that all the other ones have. The Max is weird shaped and has contrast stitching, the uap has huge velcro swathes that demand to be studied, and the Hacard 4 has an eye couching padded pouch. The Maxpedition was a little smaller and more stream lined then the others so if you're looking for light and fast wait I'd get that one, its very different then other packs. The Spec Ops UAP is by far the most bullet proof and is extremely heavy duty (and most expensive--in addition to price you have to add pieces a la cart to it) and the one I ultimately decided on. The Hazard 4 is a great backpack if your more urban/office centric. It just feels a little more civilized and has little details like a padded pouch and contrast lining, but didn't feel quite as touch as any of the other backpacks (opinion only since I didn't put it through the grinder.) And this 5.11 brings the value. It doesnt offer the same situationally specific advantages as the other packs, except in the price department which makes it my choice for best value. You get good features, very good quality, and an unbeatable price.

Good Backpack
This is a nice heavy duty backpack. It's made of a thick material which is supposed to be water resistant as well. Seems to be extremely durable due to it's thick material. This however makes it somewhat of a hefty backpack that when you hold it empty might surprise you that it weights a bit more than others. Nothing to be afraid of, just an FYI, it's not TOO heavy. This is the 5.11 Rush 24 which is the in the middle range of the series. There is a smaller Rush 12 and a larger Rush 72. I went with the middle one and I'm happy with it. I'm 6 foot 185 lbs and this pack is somewhat not large but of a big size, and fits well. Anything bigger for me would be too much. Although the smaller backpack would probably be better for day to day use, I think this was a better overall choice in terms of space and size. The backpack has a single large main compartment which fits a lot! You would be surprised how much stuff you can fit into it. Inside there are a few smaller pockets including a sleeve for a laptop. In the back there is a compartment for a water bladder which is isolate it from everything else to prevent flooding of your items if it breaks. On each side of the backpack there is a long pocket for bottles, umbrellas or anything you can decide to use them for. In the front there are too many smaller pockets and compartments to store various items and organize stuff the way you like it. It really has A LOT of pockets which is very handy. The backpack is also covered all over in webbing to attach and tie down whatever you need from pouches to pieces of gear. The backpack is padded nicely, and the shoulder straps are are both wide and very comfortable when being warn. It has nice pads on the back too, as well as a plastic insert behind it that holds the backpack in a better shape and prevents sharp objects from poking you. If you won't want it for whatever reason, the plastic insert is removable. The zippers are plastic but pretty heavy duty and YKK made which is the zipper to have. Have no doubts they are awesome. Very happy this item uses YKK zippers. This backpack is perhaps nice for adventuring and maybe travel, but I don't think it's styled for every day use. It's just too rough and to me, is not something I would want to wear outside everyday. This again is a matter of opinion and may be different to you, but that's my thought on it.Just an suggested improvement: The backpack comes with two compression straps on the top, and I wanted two more on the bottom. I went ahead and bought the 5.11 Tier System and it worked great. Attach it anywhere on the webbing of the pack and tighten it down. you now have compression straps on the bottom too!Recommended!
