Stayed with me
Bought this because I loved "The Boss" and read a couple of the poems from Obit published in Poetry Magazine. For me, reading this book was a cumulative experience. The whole thing builds, resonates with itself, gets both deeper and broader the further in you go. Ended up reading the whole thing in a couple sittings, which I very rarely do with poetry. Afterwards, I kept hearing phrases out in the world and seeing things that resonated with what I'd just read... this is a great book. Thank you VC for sharing with us.

Poems that will . . . stun you.
These are poems that are deeply personal and yet almost universal in the way they render the grief all of us have known when we experience the death of a very dear loved one. In grief we wander and wonder about the life we have shared with someone and know it is at an end. As I say in my headline some of these poems will stun you the way that a death you experience personally does, the grief that comes over you like a wave. I heard the author recite some of the poems in this Book on the podcast 'Bookworm' from KCRW radio station and immediately bought a copy. When words capture emotions that are so difficult to share with others, the power she has to describe and convey those emotions in ways that are immediate and accessible is a very special gift. I don't usually read poetry or buy books of poetry, this one I had to buy to hear more of her "voice".

Book of Feelings (not Equations)
I downloaded this book after hearing of it from her wonderful Engineer Husband. My wife and I lost our remaining 3 parents over the past few years so we'll use these poem's to remember and reconnect over Thanksgiving. I've read a couple poems -- they are intense, brief, and thought-provoking.As Steven Hawkings was told, every equation in your book drops your sales by half. Victoria choose no equations although interesting that OBIT is only one letter away from ORBIT.

One of the Best Poetry Collections I've Read
Seriously one of the strongest and most innovative collections I've read! It brings us into the quiet death of each universe and shows us: a mother's chair, a father's frontal lobe, memory. Intimate and innovative, this book is a stellar teacher!

Disappointing
I thought the poems in this collection would be written in the same format as a newspaper obituary, but they weren't. I was disappointed with the result.

Unique approach to dealing with grief
Victoria found a unique means to express the grief over her parents that is clever and tender with interesting twists. She does not wallow in her pain, keeping her eye on the here and now by focusing on her own children throughout.

Heartbreaking and beautiful poetry
Beautifully written about death and grief. I’m a non-traditional poetry way. I really enjoyed this book.

Stunning
This book is both sharp and full of heart. The most moving book I have read in a very long time.
