I take this bag in and out of my vehicle up to at least once a day, 5-6 days a week in the course of my work as a yoga therapist. I also use a heavier mat,5.24lb (2.38kg), that's also a little bigger, 66cm X 180cm (26" X 71"), 5mm (0.19"). The strap has got to do the job! I'm pleased with the be construction.I'm also really impressed with the customer service. Attempts to communicate through Amazon had failed, so Michael found me through my business listing on Facebook and offered to attend me a new bag to test out. I was really pleased to not only get a replacement, but to have a great intersection as well.Revised December 9, 2016This bag has gone from 5 stars down to 2. As noted in my first review, I teach yoga. This bag is the bag I need to carry my mat, a travel clock, a few headbands, and some business cards. Nothing else, although my mat is a heavier mat (Jade Harmony). In less then eight months the carrying strap on the bag has started to tear.I really want to go back to loving this bag, it is beautiful, I love the size and the pockets, then venting for the main bag, the grab handle at the top. All really well done. However, if the sewing on the most important part, the carrying strap, can't handle being moved daily, then it isn't a good buy. My last mat bag stood up to this kind of use for over a few years, I only replaced it because it was stolen!MERU - feel free to contact me and tell me this is a terrible anomaly in your usual quality.March 28, 2016: 5 StarsI'm just loving this well made, sturdy, beautiful bag. I love the vivid green and the printed image, but even more I love the sturdy zippers, 3 pockets of varying sizes, handy grab at the end, wide & comfy shoulder strap, and the well-place zipper for the mat storage area. Holds my Jade Harmony mat with no problems AND room to roll up a spare change of clothes inside.I'm a Yoga teacher and use a bag to carry my mat, headbands, business cards and often a change of clothes. My bags go through a lot of wear and tear, so far I am very pleased with this new bag and it looks like it will last me a long time.

I have the manduka pro matt. Getting my matt into and out of this bag is cumbersome at best. I have to strategically place the matt in the bad, zip and unzip, shove the matt in a little more, etc....and even then I can't fully zip the bag. Not very happy with the purchase and am debating sending it back. If you have the manduka pro matt this bag is not the bag for you. The measurements technically show that it will fit but it's a tight fit.As for the bag itself, it is a nice bag. Well made, sturdy. If you have a smaller matt go for it.

I wanted a carrier for my yoga mat and block, as I sometimes ride my motorcycle to the gym and would like to be able to sling it over my shoulder. Despite what some other reviewers claimed, this would not fit my mat and block in the bag. It's not really a big deal, since I can throw the block in a saddlebag, but I was hoping I could put everything in one bag. If I'm not riding, I cinch the strap around the block to carry it. Overall, a good bag for the money, but smaller than I had hoped for carrying gear.

I wanted a sturdy carrier for my Manduka Pro Black magic yoga mat. This is the longer length mat at 85” x 26” and weighs a bit over 9 pounds. It was a snug fit on my first attempt, but once I saw it go in, I have had no problem taking it in and out daily. My mat was just rolled and inserted without any extra straps .The fabric is heavier than some of my other yoga bags but this 9 pound mat needs that kind of sturdiness and expected durability. There is a small amount of room at the end so I can throw in some yoga socks and gloves but that’s it. For this bag that’s all I wanted.I am a 1000% happy camper, and would recommend it for others with big yoga mats, that don’t work well with a simple sling carrier . It also has 2 ventilation holes on each side about the size of a nickel and I like that as well .

I am still looking for the perfect bag for my Manduka Black Mat Pro - Extra Long.(8 pounds)This bag is pretty darn close to it except that the stitches in the strap were popping every time I picked it up. The strap started to come away by the end of the first week I got it. (That's after 4 - 5 classes.)I contacted Amazon to let them know I would like to repair the bag rather than replace it because I like most everything else about it.Amazon made an adjustment to cover the repair; and I'm hoping that's all I'll need to do.I had the Manduka Matsak Manduka MatSak Yoga Bagfor a year, and it was a chore to get the mat and yoga towel into it. I've tried other bags of varied prices; and the OM has performed very well once you get past the repairs.I had the zipper version of this bag for about 3 years until the last zipper broke. (See that review) so I have a fair idea of how well this one should do. I had to make a couple of repairs on that one, but once made. It held up except for the zippers.I hope this one will last until the perfect bag shows up.Namaste

I love this bag!!! Sturdy, well made, good looking, very large. It fit my 26 inch mat with room to spare!! I like that there are small ventilation circles in it!! I got the white one and I love the natural look to the fabric. I also love the peaceful natural design on it. Just what I want to look at when I get ready to do yoga to get my brain into the yoga practice. There is also room left for a towel and small sprayer. There is a large pocket inside that fits a cleaning spray and my cleaning towel. There is a small outside pocket that fits keys and a small wallet and phone. The only thing I wish it had was a large pocket on the outside to fit a towel and or a water bottle. Despite this, I'm pretty happy with my purchase!!

The bag itself is well built out of a canvas type material. Aerating holes are only open to the inner pocket and not to the main section of the bag where the mat is held. The picture is somewhat misleading in the sense that it appears to be able to hold a lot more gear than it is actually capable. The most I can fit in the bag is the Yoga mat and two yoga towels, all rolled together with a pair of training boxers. I find it hard to believe that a bottle and towel could fit the bag as it does in the picture. My solution to this was to attach my water bottle on the strap using a carabiner. The full length zipper is what sets it apart from the other bags out there. Many of them either have just the draw string opening at one end (which is useless when you are trying to put away sweat soaked towels, mats and clothing, or have a zipper that only runs vertically like a duffel bag which also makes it challenging to fit in this properly unless the bag is way oversize. The zipper which runs along the entire length and wraps around the top gives you full easy access to the main section. There are two inner pockets (small and large) and one external pocket underneath the handle on the end of the bag. At the very reasonable sale price though, it is probably one of the best valued yoga bag out there.

Lovely bag, easy to carry the pocket options are great. However, I would not call this a Large bag. I was looking for something to take on my combo workout days of spin class followed by yoga so I could put all my stuff in one bag. However, I cannot fit my shoes, socks, water bottle, hand towel, soap, yoga mat, keys, and bank card all in this bag I am still stuck carrying a separate small bag.Nice bag just disappointed that is is called a Large bag, should be referred to as a standard medium size bag.

I love this yoga bag! All the ones I've had before are very small and had no zippers. You had to wiggle the mat through the bag..But the Gecko one is very spacious! Apart from my mat, I can also put in a thin bath towel. There are pouches for your cell phone/wallet/keys, and there's a sling to put over your shoulder and a small one at the top of the bag if you want to hang it on a hook at the yoga studio. I'm really glad I bought this one instead of buying a $70 one from Lululemon!

This bag is amazing! Enough room to keep my matt, a towel and a change of clothes. I can also fit two small sample sized shampoo/conditioner bottles in the top pocket. Nice top and inside pockets. I use this for going to hot yoga and it's just perfect. I can't fit my water bottle in it, so I just use a carabineer to clip it to the top strap. When going to regular yoga where I don't need a towel, my water bottle does fit inside.

Great bag - really made my life easier when carrying a yoga mat/towel/flip flops/gym clothes/deodorant/water bottle/padlock to the gym (no bulky gym bag!). I love it! The bag isn't huge, but I'm able to fit all of the above inside (750ml camelbak water bottle rolled within the mat/towel) - if it were any bigger, it'd be a BAD thing! I LOVE IT!

Love this bag!Fits my yoga mat well. Is is really easy to take out and put the yoga mat in. The material is also nice and soft and has some extra room to fit some smaller items.I would recommend this over my wife's lulu bag as the opening is wider and easier to get the mat in and out.

This yoga bag is MUCH smaller than what is pictured online. I was really hoping I could fit things in the pockets (like the water bottle shown in picture) but I am only able to fit my yoga mat and even then it is quite a tight fit. Disappointing as I looked through quite a few options and chose this one for the sole purpose that it was marketed as being a LARGE yoga bag.

This bag is awesome! I am going to order more. Their description is truthful. The price is excellent! It is way better than a sling. There are two pockets on the inside and one on the outside end. This bag eliminates the need for taking a second bag into the studio. One of the inside pockets is large enough to hold my 24" x 68" yoga towel. I can also fit my water bottle and more into it. The adjustable shoulder strap is really long and comfortable. The full-length, L-shaped zipper makes it really easy to pack and access everything. The colour of the White (Lotus) is natural cotton with brown trim, if you are wondering.

I LOVE that this bag zipper opens up sideways and slightly around the end of the bag. It fit my very jumbo and wide mat without an issue. I also love the hidden pockets on the inside AND outside! You practically don't even need to bring a bag with you to Yoga in addition to this one..this is an all in one :)

the material was a bit thinner than i expected but that might be to reduce weight when carrying. Hopefully it will turn out to be reasonably durable. There were also a lot of loose threads on it, but this was easily fixed with a lint roller. A good value for the price overall considering similar bags are 50+

"I'm completely happy with my bag purchase. I first bought the yoga mat bag in the summer of 2015 and everything arrived as described and I also received the added e-course promptly after my purchase. Initially I was very happy to discover the material used for the bag was nicer than I imagined and just as described. Its softer than most bags but is also sturdy enough to handle my heavy usage. The soft material is great for when in class or not in use; it takes up little room and the bag easily folds down to fit in a small cubby. I have even used it for my travels in Asia and it holds my heavy thick Manduka, large towel and face towel as well as my keys, phone and wallet perfectly. Very good quality!

I've had a chance to use this product a few times now and it seems decent. There's a bigger internal zippered pocket and a small outside zippered pocket. My biggest complaint and I guess only complaint, is that it's not a big enough bag. It will hold my mat (24"x 72")and a small hand towel, anything more and your going to have a hard time not recking the zipper. If it was another 1.5"-2" bigger in diameter,Maybe another couple inches longer(so you could keep a few clothes and a towel in there) that would make this probably the best yoga mat bag on the market. The price is real good and Gecko seems to care about their product. It is a real decent product and I would buy more if they made it bigger. Hope this helps? Cheers!

I have the black version of this. It is a great size for my manduka yoga mat, while still having enough space for small soft items, like yoga socks and a shirt to change into, as well as my phone, wallet, and keys. I only wish it were water-proof/water-resistant.

This bag just fits my manduka black mat pro, 71" long; 26" wide; 1/4" thick (6 mm). It has just enough room left to comfortably zip up and still keep small things in the pockets. I'm very happy with this Bag :)
