KILMAT 80 mil 18 sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat, Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener, Audio Noise Insulation and dampening

OK, first of all I've been professionally taking cars apart and putting them back together for the last 7 years as an autobody/refinish tech. You see some cars with little to no sound deadner and some higher end cars with lots of it. Eventually you come to see/hear/feel the difference this stuff actually makes for cars that didn't have it at all or have very much of it. We've always used the 3M sound deadner pads that are shiny, black, and come 10 large (19"x19") squares in a box. Did a 2008 Crown Vic with those, they worked well. Those are much thicker than this stuff and weigh a fair amount more. (NO, I'm not complaining about weight) I just always thought that if it was heavier it HAD to be better. Well, I'm working at a different larger shop now, and it would've been harder/more expensive to get the 3M pads, so I gave these a shot. I had to do a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe for noisy/hollow sounding doors, a couple of which pinged like a drum head when they closed, thanks to the foam/adhesive breaking down on the diagonal support inside the door that the door-skin is bonded to. So, I did a few big strips, (it does not need to be completely covered!!) inside all 4 passenger doors, and rear gate. The stuff cuts good with a sharp box-cutter (watch the foil edges) Also, it sticks very well when pressed or rolled into place. I then added some Noico red foam to help with additional road noise dampening and insulation. I know some people complain about the "smell" but I never noticed it at all in the Hyundai or my 2018 F-150. This stuff worked great! got rid of all of the pinging/hollow sounding doors and it also gives you a pleasant increase in sound quality/bass response even with stock speakers! The Hyundai doors now sound like closing the doors on a car 3x its price tag with by doing that. They sound nice and solid now when they close. I also did all the doors on my 2018 F-150 with the other half of the box of this and the Noico foam, good results there too!! I will still have a small amount leftover that will go somewhere in the F-150 cab. Good price! Definitely recommend to get rid of hollow/cheap sounding doors or added for those looking for better sound!

This material works great and is easy to install. I used a heat gun to heat it before applying to my 75 chevy floor, which made it plyable and easy to mold to the shape of the floor. Holds down great.

Excellent sound deadening with a good thickness. Made a huge difference in the sound inside my Silverado Crew Cab. The thinkness is easy to work with, and the quality of the adhesive backing is amazing. Once it's attached, good luck removing it. No smell that I could detect. The size of each sheet is perfect for door speakers.

My choice when sound proofing a vehicle for audio purposes. I did 2 layers throughout my pathfinder for a pounding system and I am impressed. Way cheaper and easy to work with .

This is my 2nd order for this same material. It adheres well and definately controls sound. Consider 36 sq ft necessary for a proper basic job on a full size car or SUV. I used part of this on a different project, used the rest to perform about a 40% coverage on the inside of the exterior door panels and some basic treatment of some areas in the back of my SUV. Significant improvement. More to be done, I recommend this material

Used this to quiet the exhaust sounds on my 98 trans am. Night and day difference after installation. I have since bought more for the trunk of my accord after installing a subwoofer to eliminate trunk rattle.

I used it on all the sheet metal on the forced air furnace in my basement, and shaved off 20dB! This stuff works great and is great to work with.

Easy to cut and install, the material sticks onto surfaces very well, even without hot air. Dampens sound as it's supposed to. Although I bought two packs, one was enough to cover all 4 doors of an audi avant.

Wow, this Kilmat stuff is seriously impressive! I recently used it to soundproof my car doors, and the difference is night and day. Installation was pretty straightforward, and the included roller tool made it a breeze. Now, road noise is dramatically reduced, and the music sounds so much clearer. Honestly, I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a sound deadening solution.
