I haven’t read many books that have asked me to in very simple terms questions the things I take for granted as typically Nigerian. Particularly from a female perspective. I complained to the author that the book was too short and I think trully that in that lies the power of it. She isn’t trying to preach to the reader, or pretending that she has the solutions to the aspects of Nigerian life that we often take for granted. There is a respect here for our culture and a plea that we take a step back sometimes and examine why we do things and that to what end? I can almost hear ‘luvvie’s’ voice echoing hers asking the Nigerian to just do better, be better and agreeing that we are a very resilient people. My fave chapter was the one on how our parents love us.... I think any Nigerian, local or in the diaspora would read it and take a deep breath. I’m taking on star off because it was too short :)

Mixed feelings.
I just finished reading this today. It started off as a light-hearted read making me chuckle as I read along, but somewhere along the line, it kind of took a different dimension - Nigeria has a lot of issues, I fully agree but not everything is as negative/woeful as portrayed, I think this book focused on the worst aspects of being Nigerian. It's not all doom and gloom, if you look hard enough there are little lights in many corners of the country, people doing their own bit in creating a better nation. There was also the dark / melancholic side, but I understand that is simply the author expressing her world view based on her experiences, so I can't comment on that as we are all shaped by our upbringing and experiences. All the best Atoke.

Such a great read during my morning commute to work
Such a great read during my morning commute to work. I even appreciated the writing style. Was easy to read and chapters were short enough to keep my attention. Cannot wait for her to write more books like this.

Oh I love this book! A lot of truth covered about Nigeria and Nigerians in a very light-hearted way - this makes for an easy, fun but also reflective read from beginning to end.

Funny and well written
Hilarious and really makes you feel connected to the author. Great writing and gives you an insight to another culture -- as well as many similarities you can compare.
