Royal Monks

I like shaolin and drunken kung fu.

Great training scenes. Fun to watch the monks demonstrate their skills. Bad guys, however, had no consistency in their fighting skill. Same guys were at times pathetic, and at other times, formidable.

Love the old style Kung fu flix.

I BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING OVER TWO STARS IS BEING EXTREMELY GENEROUS. THERE ARE SO MANY SEVENTIES KU FU FILMSFROM THE SHAW BROTHERS, SUCH AS FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH, THAT WERE REALLY MASTERPIECES, IT IS DIFFICULT TOEVEN WATCH THIS. THERE ARE, HOWEVER, SOME GOOD FIGHT SCENES. STICK TO THE EARLY HONG KONG THRILLERS.

Thought it might be like Jackie Chan's Drunken Master - nope... The story isn't too bad but the title is misleading. Lot's of fighting - almost too much and too little story... I would have rated higher except the English translation is a joke - at one place he describes his technique as the 'Electric...' electric? Set in old China in a world without electricity?... major translation failure. And Japanese ninja that can in a puff of smoke literally next frame disappear - yet can't win a fight? Could have been a lot better...
