It has a lot of unnecessary fabric. After owning it for so many years
I've owned this tent for 13 years. It was the first tent I purchased for backpacking in the Sierra, before I knew anything about backpacking or climbing. This tent is such a throwback. It is very heavy, and has a weird tunnel-esque design. It is not free standing, and it has a hybrid tent-fly design, which contributes to it's weight. It has a lot of unnecessary fabric. After owning it for so many years, I forgot if it was 3 season or 4 season. That is how I ended up here, reviewing it. I was hoping it was somehow a 4 season tent, which might justify its weight. But it lacks the standard features of a 4 season tent, so I should have known. Nonetheless, it has held up very well to 13 years of heavy use. I stopped using it about 8 or 9 years ago for backpacking and have used it solely for car camping since then. For that purpose, it is definitely not ideal as it is low to the ground without the conveniences of a standard car camping tent. Basically, this is an outdated tent, in terms of design and materials. It is much heavier than most 2 person backpacking tents on the market today. You can probably find a much better deal on a modern tent.
