Can this yarn be used for a punch needle project to hang on wall?

I'm not sure, I have never did punch needle. I will tell you it is a fine weight yarn not a DK or Sport weight. I got it to do mittens that require sport weight and it was way to thin for that.

How many do I need for a scarf?

Hi, 150g~200g(3~4balls) for thin scarf, 300g~400g(6~7 balls) for heavy scarf.

What size needle is used? And how many yards?

Look in the description it shows the yards per skeen and tells you 3-4 mm needles.
