My 2013 Lexus runs like new, and I credit using "the best" oil and filter every 5k mi. to resist engine wear. I call it "cheap insurance". I have examined several top-rated "naked" oil filters over the years, and many of them use hard plastic "ferrules" at the ends of the filter to form "seals" around the core of the metal filter housing, whereas these OEM Toyta filters use tough-but-softer material for these end seals. It's easy to see that the hard ferrules do not fit tightly around the metal core, while the softer material does form nice, tight seals. My question for the others is, what good is lots of good filter material if oil can get past it rather than being forced through it? The price I pay for 3 of these OEM fiters is actually low compared to the cost of other "top line" filters sold elsewhere, and when you add system efficacy, it's a net feel-good transaction.
