Great and Dependable Fire starters
I've been using these fire starts for over a year. My last box of 40 I started using in late September and I needed to order another box of 40 as I was almost out. Sure I am an old Boy Scout and can start a fire without fire starts. But why? These make it so easy! One fire start gets my wood stove all fired up and producing that magical wood heat. Surround a fire start with kindling wood and watch the magic. Heat! I heartily recommend this product. Neat, clean and effective. Enjoy your fire. Quickstart makes it happen.

Great fire starter
Great fire starter. Easy to use. Don’t even need to use a full stick. I have snap them in half and it works just fine. You don’t need to have small kindling.

These are perfect if you have the right tools.
Like some of the 1 star reviews claim these don't start the easiest, you're gonna want to use a lighter of some sort. The nice thing is though they burn hotter than Hades once they get going. While there is a small channel that is grooved into one side of them that helps them start with a match, a lighter or even a small butane/propane torch is the best method to get these going. I used to use those long grill lighters, but I was burning through them way too fast. I now use a small propane plumbers torch from Berzomatic that was like $15 on sale at Home Depot. It starts with one click of the starter and I go through one $4 fuel tank every 2 years. It's much more economical. And speaking of economical I recommend that you cut these blocks into quarters since using a whole one to start one fire is just wasteful. I use an old meat cleaver I bought from a dollar store a decade ago and it goes through these things with just a steady press. That means that this one box of 10 starters lights my wood furnace 40 times. I recently bought the 30 count box from Amazon and get 120 fires out of it. And if you're real a penny-pincher you could easily cut the blocks into 5ths or even 6ths to stretch them even further, but that's more work then I'm willing to put it. Overall if you use a lighter instead of a match (seriously, who uses matches anymore?) these blocks will be great for you.

Takes some work to use them, but they do the job
These are packaged in 10 separate packs of "4" fire starters each. I put quotes around the "4" because they stick together so well that you have to break them apart with a tool (chisel, screwdriver, etc), so you're really buying 10 fire starters which can be broken down. I use 1/4 of the "4" pack to start each fire, so I do get 40 fires out of the box. I have had good luck using these in a wood burning stove. Rarely do I have to put a second one in to get the fire going. Overall, I think this is a good value, and it would be a five star review if they were not stuck together..

Do the trick...
A great invention! During the last few months when the weather was cold, fires were our nighttime activity. Getting them started was always time consuming until these firefighters made an entrance. Put them under the logs with a few sheets of newspaper on the ground...voila...instant fire that keeps on going. The firelighters stay lit longer than the newspaper so as to coax the logs to catch on fire. Once the logs are going, the maintenance is easy. These are great little sticks...won’t start a fire without them!

You want fires like these?
I highly recommend the Duraflame Quick Start.Without fail, I have beautiful fires like these in my pictures.Super easy to use.I take one log out of the wrapper, and break that in half.Light one end and the key is to let it ignite and burn for a few moments before placing it in your fire pit, chimini or fireplace. Then let it burn for about 5 mins before placing any logs on it.No need for kindle wood.Works every time and I have been using this for years!
