Schlage F40 PLY 622 Plymouth Door Knob, Bed & Bath Privacy Lock, Matte Black

This is a very sturdy knob and lock for our interior garage door. Easy to install and feels like quality. Love the color too.

Building a new house I needed a lot of door knobs. I bought these and others for closets, bedrooms and entry lock doors. All were high quality and easy to install. They came with the right hardware and all work well. The price on Amazon is great for them and I saved a good bit getting everything here. I wanted the matte black look and I am pleased with the finish.

This is a great chrome, locking door knob. However, the size of our other slag door knobs are slightly larger, though still the same shape - but it looked too small in our hallway so we had to return and use different brand. I am sure they likely sell ones that match our exact door knobs, except locking in the store – I just preferred to have delivered. If you don’t mind that it’s a slightly smaller handle, it’s perfect.

I’m using this on an external (back) door in concert with an electronic lock by the same brand. I was concerned that it wasn’t sturdy enough to work well on an external door, but it is fine and doesn’t feel out of place. It matches the lock perfectly, looks great, and feels solid.

The entry knob to our house from the garage stopped working recently. It was a Kwikset that was part of a 3-knob set I purchased shortly after moving in years ago(the idea of using the same knobs the builders and whoever else used didn't set well with me). Anyways, all the Kwiksets I found on Amazon used a 'Smartkey' feature I really didn't understand and I didn't mind carrying an extra key on my keychain.The Schlage Plymouth got pretty good reviews and I needed something fast(a broken entry doorknob is one of those things you shouldn't put off replacing). My only requirements were a brand I trusted and something I could get for free same-day shipping(with that being offered in my area thru Prime). Not surprisingly, the order arrived on time and correct- thanks Amazon!The good:Solid look/feel. You don't want something flimsy-looking to encourage criminals!Easy installation. It took me all of 5 minutes to complete and that includes unboxing. The instructions are easy to read and comprehensive.Packaging. If you've read my other reviews you know I don't like plastic packaging. This knob came in a small cardboard box that didn't require a knife or scissors to open.The bad:The tumblers inside the knob where the key inserts were quite stiff when brand-new. In fact, I had trouble getting inside the first few days until the tumblers loosened! I've had the knob for a couple weeks now and it's definitely better, but not as smooth as my decade-old knobs on my other entry doors.The locking mechanism is different than what I'm used to. The 'locked' position on the tab inside is horizontal compared to my Kwiksets which are vertical. Maybe I installed it wrong?The verdict:It does the job without any gimmicky features(ie. Smartkey). Looks great and came shipped in environmentally conscious packaging! I deducted one star for the initial stiffness, but that has gotten significantly better. I would recommend this entry knob with little hesitation.Jae

Good quality door knob for a decent price. The weight of it was nice and felt like it was made of good quality. I unfortunately sat it on the island while I was unpacking other items in the box and it rolled off and hit the tile floor. Put a small dent in the bottom of the handle but no worries, it is hardly noticeable and performs well. Just a tip, things that are round roll and this knob is no different.

Easy to install and matches the other door knobs in the house.

We really like the polished brass. The door knob/lock was easy to install. We feel secure with Schlage, a great company, good reputation.
