Chestnut Flour

Unfortunately, I have been unable to get a response from Fresh & Wild when sending an email via their website. The Chestnut flour is a good product, but the customer service is not so good.

BakingMuch too expensive to use a lot, but it is so wonder ful added in part w other flours!!

I can't believe you carry this! I have seen recipes that call for it but I can't find it in my regular grocery store.

I made "castagnaccio" with it, a typical Italian cake (with rosemary, pinion nuts, sultana only) and it came out good. Compared to what I find in Italy, it was more difficult to get a smooth dough, I needed to work the lumps longer

This flour is perfect for us- we're using it for allergy dosing and it works well. Our son is allergic to many types of nuts so it's nice that there's no cross contamination.

Very disappointed by this flour. It says: from Italy" but there is nothing on the package that proves it. That's what they say but there is no way to verify if it is true. No sourced provenance. I am very familiar with chestnut flour since my childhood and I also know the industry. You have to be very careful with chestnut flour, as some dishonest companies mix the expensive chestnut flour with some cheap wheat flour. That is a disaster for celiac people. This flour did not smell fresh, did not smell like chestnut and is very white for a chestnut flour. Is it mixed with rice flour? Or worse with wheat? It is the most expensive one they have on Amazon, and it is not even organic. Will never order another bag.

Beautifully packaged,really fresh,and arrived quickly. I used it to make a beautiful chestnut,fig and ginger tart,and also a savory wild mushroom one.Can hardly wait to bake with it again!

I did put it in the freezer like the reviews sugguested and it has been great to use, I will most likely reorder :)
