You still need a tablet or smartphone to get the full use from the paperback version of this book.
This review is for the paperback version of this book;I was disappointed in the lack of actual content. Although there is some good information, there are no photographs, illustrations, charts or graphs in the book that would greatly help supporting some topics. What the printed book relies on to provide the reader with more detailed information are over 160 QR bar-codes that you need to use a smartphone or tablet, equipped with an QR app, to scan each bar-code, and an internet connection to take you to those internet sites. This was a major annoyance for me!Why have this physical book if you still need to have a smartphone or tablet handy to visit all these additional referenced websites? You could simply avoid the book and do a simple internet search on your computer, tablet or smartphone for any specific topics to find the same information. Plus there is a good chance a simple internet search may even offer up the same websites the QR codes in the book direct you too. For me to try and read the book and also juggle a smartphone or tablet was a pain.Possibly the Kindle or eBook edition allows you to seamlessly maneuver between the book and the numerous QR bar-codes for addition information. But since I did not have the Kindle version I can only speculate on how it works. In closing; I cannot recommend the paperback version of this book.I would have preferred that the additional information on these referenced websites was actual in the physical paperback book.

The bible for goldfish
I am so impressed. I got the ebook after trying to treat a goldfish with a swollen belly by browsing and posting on forums without being able to resolve the problem. The information here is so thorough. Everything I can think of that can possibly happen to a goldfish is covered in this book. It is easy to read with helpful drawings to help you make more informed decisions. I also corresponded with her and she was so kind and helpful! It’s the best $10 I’ve spent on my goldfish!

It’s an excellent book BUT...
This book is very informative to any goldfish keeper out there. It contains a vast amount of knowledge of goldfish keeping and provides helpful tips and tricks. It’s great for beginners and experienced fish keepers alike. It covers all aspects of goldfish care from tank care to goldfish health and well-being.I got the ebook version so I didn’t have those QR code stuff that other people were experiencing with a hardcover. The ebook was nicely formatted and looked good. There are a few grammatical errors that could have been easily caught, but they aren’t that bad.I only have 2 things that I didn’t like about this book. The first one is the lack of pictures. An informative book like this one would benefit a lot from including images. While the descriptions were decent, I felt that both the different breeds of goldfish section and the section on illnesses and diseases definitely needed images. I spent a large amount of time switching to Google to look up images to help me understand what I’m reading about. In particular, fish keepers would have a better understanding of fish diseases and illnesses with the inclusion of pictures. It can help them identify issues with their fish much sooner and react in a quick manner. The second issue I had with this book is the fact the author condones the use of fish bowls to house goldfish. While they admit it isn’t ideal, they don’t advise against it. I am a firm believer that no fish should go in a 1 gallon fish bowl. It’s just simply too small and you’re unable to meet the needs of the fish properly, especially one with a messy nature and the growing potential of 8-12 inches long such as our goldie-finned friends. (At the very least, it’s terribly boring to be in such a small space!)So, overall, I would recommend the book to other goldfish keepers. It’s packed with knowledge that I’m already utilizing for the well-being of my own goldfish. I would just be sure to advise them against using a fish bowl, and I would also recommend Googling a lot of the information presented in the book to get some visuals on what the author is talking about.

An Absolutely Brilliant Guide to the Care of Goldfish.
I came across this book when I was looking for help and advice when one of my goldfish had fallen seriously ill. The information and advice in this book saved my goldfish's life and not only just the content. The author Meredith Clawson offers online advice to buyers of her book and she has been unfailingly generous to me with her time and expertise. The fish that nearly died was left (how shall I put it) somewhat disabled by her brush with death so I sought Meredith's help again. There I was anxious and bewildered and extremely concerned about the well being of one of my aquatic chums and Meredith's email support was absolutely invaluable. I calmed down, got hold of the medication she recommended and my slightly disabled fish is now fine. There are people who keep tropical fish, there are people who keep Koi but if you keep goldfish you soon realise what remarkable, hardy, long lived creatures they are, who deserve the best attention you can give them. If you care about the welfare of your goldfish buy this book. I've got the e-book version and the actual hold it in your hands edition. If you know someone who has goldfish then do them and their fish a favour and buy them a copy too. Thank you Meredith Clawson.

If I could leave zero stars, I would
This book is practically useless. It has NO illustrations, other than QR codes, which I am sure are just click bait for the author to get a percentage of sales, as they all lead to (US) Amazon links. Misspellings abound, along with basic grammatical errors. This book tells you absolutely nothing that you cannot find on the author's website, PureGoldfish.com. I've been to the website before, which is decent enough content but completely unorganised, but the book is really hyped up there, leading people to believe that the book will contain much more content than the website. The book most certainly does not. If I wasn't in isolation during the coronavirus lockdown, I would return this. It's a complete waste of money.
