This set comes in a nice variety of both sizes and styles. Although you are not guaranteed to have repeating designs, it looks like most of the gears I received have at least one match.These are metal, which means they should hold up to wear and tear a bit better than other materials. Especially if you are creating a steampunk creation, or other craft that will get some wear out of it. The metal also means that they will add some weight to whatever you are creating.They are not perfect, and they do not work together as functional gears. The holes on several pieces are not completely open. Also, some of the teeth are a little rough around the edges. You may have to do some cleanup on the gears and the holes depending on the application and look you are going for.As a decorative element, these are fun, and look the part. I am definitely happy with them for the craft projects I have planned.

I've gotten a few sets of steampunk/gear/gothic assortments similar to this. In fact, some of the gears in this are the same exact ones I've gotten in other packs just different colored. I got the gunmetal black which I think is gorgeous.The set varies in sizes and quantity (as it's being sold by weight, not quantity). You could never guarantee you are going to find 2 of the same exact gear (you know, for something like matching earrings) but, I would say the majority of gears had at least 1 duplicate and in some cases several duplicates. The sizes range from about the thickness of a pencil to slightly smaller than a quarter which I'm really happy about.They are real metal and fairly sturdy, thick, pieces but they are not functional gears and the teeth can't fit together to make a working mechanical piece or be used in something like watch repair. These are CRAFT gears intended for use in crafts. They look great encased in resin, covering leather, on costume pieces, glued to items, or made into jewelry. However many of the centers are not clean holes. You may need to take a small round file/planer to take out the pieces of metal that hang on the sides.

These are decent gears for crafts/cosplay. I have the "gun black" which is like a smoke color not BRIGHT silver but not really gray or steel either.Decent variety or sizes and designs. Detailing or raised side is only one sided. That is good for working with cloth or applying with a glue. Some of the gears to have the loops attached to easily sew this onto clothing. Sadly, some still have visible metal shavings/edges that need to be removed from inside the gears.Overall, for the price point these are decent. They are not magnetic and do not bend easily which is nice. Feel like metal and not plastic which is also good.
