I purchased this adapter after purchasing the Dewalt brand name item that is similar. The brand name one has some plastic tabs that only allow for use with the 2 Amp hour batteries but not the 5 hour ones. This adapter fits both. I used it on a reciprocating saw with a 5 Amp battery on the first day I owned it. It was working fine for about 5-10 minutes but partway through a particular hefty cut, it gave out. Would not deliver power at all. No burnt smell or any outwatd indication of malfunction was noted. I finished the project with the brand name one and a 2 Amp hour battery. Later I opened up the casing and found that a soldered connection had separated. It did not appear to have been soldered well so I remedied that. It now works like a champ and I have used it on similar jobs without issue. The only other sticking point for me is that once "clipped" into the tool, it is very difficult to release it. I almost considered leaving it on the tool permanently and just buying one for each of my tools that I need it for. Anyway. Not terrible for the price. Just hope you get one with no solder issues.

I bought this to replace an adapter that apparently one of my co-workers liked more than I did. I thought the price was good, especially with the usb port. It lasted maybe a month. Went to use my sawzall and nothing. Okay, checked the push button battery indicator....battery fully charged. Sawzall has bit the dust, so let's get the circular saw out. Plugged in battery and adapter, squeezed the trigger...Nothing. Wow, not two dead tools! Let's dig out an old 18v battery. Both tools ran like champs. This adapter nearly costed $300.00 in replacement tools. Buy genuine Dewalt if you're going to use an adapter. The one I had lasted for a couple of years before it disappeared.

Did what it is advertised to do. It allows you to use a 20v Lithium battery in your 18v tool. This is a great savings since 18v batteries are nearly unavailable and the ones you can find are outrageously priced. The one problem I had was the fit up. Once you got it plugged in to the tool, it was darned near impossible to get it out. This made it hard to use on multiple tools.

This works well as an adapter, it is true though that it isn’t removed all that well and it draws on the battery when not in use, but if bought for each tool and remove the battery at the end of dayI bought two for my 18v sawzall and skill saw, now they run on 20v batteries! It’s GREAT!!!

I have a number of legacy DeWalt tools which used the older 18v battery style. As the batteries wore out, I was pondering purchasing new battery packs. This adapter is an inexpensive solution, allowing me to continue to use my older DeWalt tools with the newer packs. Everything fits perfectly, and I suspect the 20v pack gives my 18v volt tools a bit of a boost. Highly recommended!

Impossible to get off the tool or the charger. But dewalt priced themselves out of the market at $120. This works but requires two hands to remove from charger or tool. It feels cheap but... Acceptable for $20.

Wasn’t what i was expecting it looks very wierd to see it the way it hooks up. And to me it doesn’t work very good. I definitely would not buy again. Update it has a short in it and has killed a good battery to the point it want even try to take a charge. It’s worthless. Don’t waste your money

This works better than expected I searched before hand to see if it would work with 18v batteries as it only listed the 20v batteries I can confirm it works perfectly with 18v batteries and has giving my older tools a new lease of life. Unlike some of the other brands this one doesn’t seem to drain the battery over night

Absolutely brilliant idea. I can now use all my DeWalt cordless tools using this adapter with my new 20v 6ah batteries. Easy to use. The old 18v batteries are so expensive so this adapter solves all my problems. Bargain price and fast delivery. Highly recommend. Thanks very much.

Brought a new lease of life to my old dewalt.it the prettiest looking but works perfectly.Not as easy to remove as original batteries but I don't see myself removing it anytime soon.If your thinking of buying it just buy it you won't be disappointed.

Simple to use..just push and go..easy to remove from body of tool.
