Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960

What to get for a daughter- in- law's birthday? She has impeccable taste, a discerning eye, and has "everything." Just the same, I love her and always endeavor to find a personal gift to demonstrate, in a small way, my appreciation for her. I looked and looked. As she is the CEO of Oiselle, a women's sport clothing company, I thought she might have fun perusing this book. She not only liked it but loved it. It would seem that anyone with an interest in the history of fashion and/or women's sports would enjoy the photos and text. I looked at several books with a similar focus and this one seemed the most appropriate choice for a nice gift.

I actually went to see this clothing display in person but the book has more clothing fabulously displayed and lots more information on both the ladies and the clothing. I must ask for anyone interested in Victorian/Vintage Clothing!!

Like their previous, appropriately titled book Fabulous ! , this book is full of exquisite full-page color photos of beautifully posed mannequins, dressed in imaginatively chosen outfits. Count on FIDM to always have slightly unexpected pieces, along with first-class examples of garments from each period. Well worth the modest price.

This is an amazing book and worth the price. I love sewing historical fashion and this book made me fall in love with historical sportswear. This will definitely help inspire me to sew some sports garments especially the 1890s - Edwardian era. Great addition to my small library of fashion history!
