This is really important for the stove it prevents pots and pans from getting burnt on the bottom.

Works Perfectly
I'm buying my second one, today. Bought the first 2 months ago to replace a 40+-year old "flamer tamer" that had mysteriously stopped working. This Better Houseware Flame Master has perfectly allowed me to reduce the heat on my gas burner. My stovetop does not allow me to effectively simmer. Yet I can, with the Flame Master. It is the most helpful tool.I have NOT found that my pots "slip" around on the surface. (And my stove sits on a fairly slanted floor.) The Flame Master works really well.

No more overboils or burned eggs!
I love cooking with gas but I was not able to adjust my new gas range in my remodeled kitchen, so I was constantly having problems with the lowest heat setting still being too high. This little jewel has solved my problem. When I need higher temps I just take it off the burner and crank it up. YES! Life is good in the kitchen again.

A well made simmer plate
I bought this to warm my kitty's cat food. It does a great job. I've had it now for a good number of months. It hasn't rusted although some very mild patina can be seen in the interior vent holes. The outside still looks new, even the underside where the gas flame is. No complaints.

Solved the problem of food burning with gas stove
Works like a charm to allow me to simmer foods in my cookware on my gas stove. No more food burning and sticking to the bottom of my saucepan for foods that require a lengthy simmer cooking time.

WASTE OF MONEY
I was so excited to see this on Amazon. My mother has 2 she bought 20 or so years ago, and hers are great. Mine arrived not packaged very well and with a dent. The weight of the item was about one-third of my mom's, and after one use it warped. It does not distribute heat any better than just using the burner alone, and my homemade spaghetti sauce still burned. I would not recommend this at all.

Diffuser
this is a great item as I can't seem to get the heat to go low enough to avoid burning some foods. Do they make anything like this, that won't scratch, for the glass top stoves?
