Glad i bought this, was worth the money
This is a pretty nice bowl, it's very large too. To get a good idea of how large it is. the outer diameter of this bowl is about the same length as a merkur futur razor from blade to end. It's pretty big.I'm new to the world of safety razor shaving and shaving soap/bowls and what-nots so I decided to buy multiples of everything I needed to ensure I ended up with at least one item of each that I liked. Of the three bowls that I currently have, this one is my favorite, for some reason, I can get the best lather from my soap from this bowl than I can the other two. Probably due to my inexperience in some part I'm sure, but the size of the bowl seems to make it easier to accomplish. The only thing that disappointed me about this bowl is that it is made of materials that make it non-magnetic. one of my shaving stands uses a magnet to hold the bowl in place (which looks pretty nice) and even with the oversized shape of this bowl, it still fit nicely on that stand, except that it's not magnetic so it ended up being a balancing act to keep the bowl in place on the stand :( so it just sits next to the stand and the bowl that came with the stand stays there instead.I can tell this bowl is double walled, when filled with water it will still float because of the air trapped between the two walls of the bowl, but it's not a vacuum sealed double wall. So it'll hold the temp a little better than a single walled bowl, but not nearly as good as a vacuum sealed double walled bowl. But then again, it's not like you need it to retain the temp for hours anyways, so it doesn't really matter. This bowl is pretty much my go-to bowl and I am very pleased with my purchase. One thing I almost forgot to mention. the inside of the bowl is a shining coating while the outside has a brushed look to it, it's not shiny like the inside is. I think you can see it in the pictures, but if not, I can take a better picture of the exterior of the bowl if requested.

An awesome lathering bowl. Perfect size for whipping up large amounts of thick shaving cream!
First let me state that all the other lathering bowls I've seen for sale are just too small. This one has an inside diameter of 4 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches high. It is a double wall bowl with a mirror polished interior and a brushed stainless steel exterior. It fits in the palm of my hand perfectly. Someone commented that it was cheaply made, I completely disagree. It's a double walled stainless steel shaving bowl, what more can you ask for in quality? Check out my pics and you can see that my Semogue 830 brush fits nicely inside. The mirror polished interior looks fabulous, and i'm glad that the exterior is brushed so that you can easily grip the bowl while whipping up your shaving cream into a thick lather. Don't buy the tiny child sized bowls you see on amazon, buy this larger, man sized bowl. Plus It looks fantastic on my counter top! I purchased mine on amazon thru seller Yerba Mate Straws and it showed up in 2 days, nicely packed with instructions for the novice. Even though the instructions say this bowl can be used with a soap bar or puck inside, I would use it as it should be used, as a lathering bowl. Keep your soap bar in a separate container, pre soak your brush, then load up your brush with soap by swirling it on your soap bar 15-30 times. Then put your loaded brush into the lathering bowl, add a couple drops of water, as necessary, and start whipping it into a nice thick lather.

super-mega-radical shaving bowl
this is in fact the most perfect shaving bowl ever devised and manufactured by man. the only single thing that could make this bowl better than it is would be if it was produced and sold by an american war hero who lived next door to me in the good ole u-s of a. naysayers of this particular product should not be even shopping at amazon; rather, they should be running back downstairs to their secret basement sweat shops and cracking the whip on their own team of engineers and laborers to create one made from illegal whale bone and the tears of baby unicorns. this bowl is exactly as advertised; stainless steel, double-walled construction so you can fill it with scalding hot water and still carry it without discomfort, shiny on the inside and brushed finish on the outside. it cleans easily by rinsing it with water and wiping it out with a towel. it DOES look stunning on your bathroom counter top, and it IS among the largest shaving bowls available. i would not advise using it in place of a softball, nor do i believe it to be an adequate replacement for a hockey puck; due to its double-walled construction, the metal is not exceptionally thick, and would more than likely dent rather easily. as i have only used mine to lather shaving soap, i cannot speak to its durability as sporting equipment.

nice size
I was worried that it would be too large for my hands since I'm a woman who wears small to medium sized gloves, and this is made for a man's larger hands. But I am able to hold it comfortably and easily even with soapy wet hands. It has a nice wide mouth which allows me to swirl my brush easily without knocking my knuckles or the brush handle against the bowl. I use African black soap as my shave soap for now. And I stick a chunk to the bottom of the bowl when it's dry and keep it in there. This stays in really well. The only time it fell out was when I tried to put a new chunk in the bowl when the bowl was still damp. It didn't stick well at first but did after it dried. I also keep it in the shower, and the bowl hasn't rusted at all in the 8 months or so that I've used it. I've dropped it a couple times, but it looks like new with no dents or scuffs.
