I have owned a few different air cleaner products over the years and have not really been thrilled with any of them. We have three dogs (two that shed a lot) and we recently moved and are now closer to a major freeway. To say that dust and dog dander were a problem is an understatement. After a bunch of research I came across the Homedics devices and decided to order one to try it. In the end, I am now the proud owner of three of them. I started with the one and put it in my bedroom where I could really track and manage how dusty it would get before and after using it. Within about ten days of running it at various speeds and on auto mode at night, there is a noticeable reduction in dust and airborne particles. I have certain areas where the dust build up happens quickly and on noticeable surfaces - it was about cut in half already - largely in automatic mode - and I think if I kept it on full strength during the day it would do even more.The other thing to note is how easier they are to operate. You can put it into a set-it and forget it kind of thing - or use the remote to adjust fan speed, etc. throughout the day if you want. It's also very quiet in the low or auto mode - and we sleep with it on. There's a little bit of white noise quality to it that actually is better than the hum of the freeway.Given I'm in a dusty/dog filled area I'll see how long the filters go before changing, but I can report that so far these are doing the job intended and they are affordable and I highly recommend.More to come in a few months.

I already had one that I was in love with and wanted to get a few more for the house so I ordered two more from Amazon. The previous one I’ve had for about three years and the two now that I’ve purchased from Amazon, I’ve had a year and I can’t say there are any complaints they work wonderfully. I even have a small version. I have bad hayfever and allergies they help with reducing them compared to some of the other people that I know who I associate that experience, the seasons, hayfever and allergies differently than me. I also enjoy being able to add the aroma therapy to them, which fills the house with fragrance even if only one is going at the time however, the ones in my bedroom go 24 seven and I have not had any problems with them. As far as mobility, they are rather large the smaller one is easy to move from place to place appearance. They’re white and people rarely noticed them or at least they don’t But they do. Their sound is quiet went on low on high has more of a fan sound and if you have to change the UB light it’s fairly easy. It’s just taking off the back and snapping the light in and out, and the filters are easy to change.

Love the versatility. And it functions well.

This is the third air purifier of this brand I've purchased. This time the filter appeared to have been used and smelled like chemicals. I contacted customer service and they made everything right immediately.I buy this brand because the replacement filters are easy to find and easy to install. It filters our large bedroom quickly and I can turn it down for quiet continuous filtration.

During the lockdown we did an extended cleaning in our apartment and discovered to our horror a large patch of mold behind a corner cabinet in the bedroom. After a deep cleaning of the corner and a removal of the cabinet, we knew that mold spores must be in the room and could re-establish itself unless, besides more cleaning, they were filtered out of the air. Also we didn’t have the room for a large filter. This air purifier is a reasonable size and a reasonable price. The UV in this unit is advertised to kill mold spores besides other airborne pathogens such as viruses. So far it’s been three months and no mold has returned. Since the mold probably established itself over the winter, we’ll see the real results by next year.Regarding the other attributes of this unit, we have had a number of air purifiers over the years and this one is probably the most basic:Noise) It’s not loud at the lowest setting but other air purifiers that cost more are quieter. We can sleep thru the lowest setting, the next speed gets too loud for us at night. Other air purifiers are also too loud at the next setting as well.Settings) This purifier has very basic settings. The off timer works perfectly but you must start it yourself every day. Unlike other purifiers, this doesn’t have a built in air quality sensor. We miss and don’t miss the air quality sensor. The Coway air purifiers for example have a Eco mode that shuts the purifier off if it doesn’t detect dust or smells. That’s a great feature for even less noise at night but you are at the mercy of what the manufacturer thinks is a bad smell, the Coway people don’t like cooking smells where the Sharp people don’t like body odors so the purifiers often go full speed loudly when automatically set off. It’s nice to have a purifier that doesn’t do this.Light) The blue setting button lights are not overly bright unlike other air purifiers, you can sleep with them on, however the night light on this unit is rather bright for a small bedroom.Ionizer) We don’t detect an ozone smell from this unlike the Coway which sometimes makes an ozone smell.Efficiency) We haven’t had this long enough to make a solid judgement but it does reduce pollen enough for me that I can tell the difference between it being on or off this past spring.Overall, we can recommend this purifier.
