I’ve tried the devices that make high pitched noise and those did nothing (tried 2 or 3 different styles and brands), finally tried these and they immediately caused my landlords big dogs to stop jumping on me. It just lets out a sudden burst of air with a kind of hiss sound and it freaks them out and they stay away from me. It only took one time and they remembered it and are slow to approach me and now I can walk to check my mail without getting trampled. I love these things! I had grown to dread checking the mail because I just get bombarded by these dogs and I’m small, but now I can go out there with one of these and feel confident and comfortable. I haven’t gone through a whole can yet. I’ve had them for months but since the dogs remember the experience, I don’t need to use it every time. I’ve probably only had to spray it ~5 times since I purchased about 5 months ago.

It works great

Would be effective to distract a big dog if it tried to attack our small dog on walks. Feel safer with this in my pocket. I would not use it on my dog for training purposes though. Positive reward training is much more effective
