Good scales with large platform
These are a good looking set of scales with a large platform which makes it easier to weigh ingredients in large bowls or pans as well as large items such as joints of meat or poultry – even a turkey if we are allowed Christmas this year. The capacity runs from 3g to 10kg (22lb) in increments of 0.1g or 0.01 oz, but as most people will be working in minimum quantities of several grams or 0.25 or so of an ounce upwards the smaller increments are useful only to tell you if you are spot on or a fraction over the required weight. I would not want to rely on these or indeed any kitchen scales if I needed that sort of precision.Absolute accuracy is always a problem with domestic kitchen scales. We happen to have had two other sets of scales, one which had started to cut out mid-recipe which was why they were being replaced and an old pair we had kept as a standby. Check weights on bags of flour, rice and so on produced three different results each time, a range of about five percent difference with all three consistent and the Taylor set firmly and consistently in the middle.Certified scales start off around 10 times the price but the Taylor scales are consistent and seem accurate enough. Old favourite recipes have come out the same and new ones have not been disasters and as we had been pleased with the scales that weighed slightly heavier as well as the pair weighing slightly lighter this really was a case of a happy medium.Zeroing is simple, press tare, as is changing the measuring unit. There was a snag though; the description said the units were pounds and ounces and fluid ounces, along with grams and millilitres. I cannot find fluid ounces anywhere, the units go from pounds to grams, which, to be fair, is hardly a deal breaker as most recipes these days are either in grams and millilitres or give both imperial and metric. If you prefer working in imperial then, in general, for all practical purposes, a fluid ounce of water or similar, weighs an ounce, just as 10ml weighs 10 grams. The display is large, bright and easy to see and sticks out at the front of the platform so is never obscured. There is a slight novelty I have discovered when sifting flour into a bowl on the scale through a sieve. Because it was such small amounts going in, albeit constantly, accumulating to around 100gms in the bowl, the flour was not registering. So, if you buy a set check if that is common, or just my scales, and if you find the same then sieve into a separate bowl then weigh the flour from that.Being stainless steel it is easy to clean, just a wipe over and it uses easy to obtain and relatively cheap AAA batteries rather than more specialised and expensive coin cells. All in all we are very pleased with our purchase, happy with the accuracy, size and looks and would happily recommend it, especially as it is now £4 less than we paid a month ago.

Not Fit For Purpose
I bought these scales to weigh out two lots of dog food twice a day. The dog bowls I had then obscured the display so I got these for the large surface. Seven months, four sets of batteries and two overfed dogs later, I have given up.The scales were kept on a level surface in the utility room. The dog food is raw meat, frozen in one kilo boxes, providing 5x 200g portions. At first I was impressed. The scales seemed to remember the weight of the bowls, zeroing the weight when putting the second bowl on. But after a few weeks, they showed random weights that were clearly incorrect, eg changing from 53g to 175g without being touched. I changed the batteries and that seemed to solve it. It did seem that the batteries had very short life so I switched to Energiser. (It made no difference in the long run). The tare function was sometimes accurate, sometimes so wildly out it was clearly wrong, sometimes just random. After six months we realised we were buying more dog food than usual and the dogs were putting on weight. We spent a month weighing the food on these scales and then checking the weight on the kitchen scales I use for baking bread (the loaves are always the consistent). The nature of raw dog food means a visual check is not possible. Food with offal is twice as bulky as food made from pigeon which is very dense. It turns out we were feeding the dogs 15-25% more than we thought we were. They were not happy at getting less and we had to reduce it over a few weeks.I did read the reviews before I bought these scales, which at the time were half good, half bad. I wonder how many of the good reviews were from people who had only used the scales a couple of times? Are reviews useful or just confusing? In the end I bought another set of the reliable scales I use for baking and smaller but deeper bowls for the dog food so I can see the display.

A... weight... off my mind
It's a great scale and the description of it is very accurate.I like how big it is and easy to clean.I use it for cooking and for weighing my parcels for posting. So it's great for a number of needs. The tare function is great for parcel weighing if the parcel goes over the screen. Of course it is good for its actual intention of weighing your empty bowl so you know the portion amount once full.So far so good, can't seem to go wrong with it and it's better than the last one I had.I would definitely recommend it

Ok, works fine, good size, but poor display.
Overall, very useful larger size and the scales work properly so far, but the display has been given a sort of frosted glass effect which makes it look out of focus and soft and as a result is not as easy to read like most other scales, or in fact any article with a digital display. It's a mystery and unclear as to why they decided to do this as a design feature, as it makes using it just that bit more difficult and it actually makes the scales look cheap. We have even considered returning it, but haven't decided yet as scales of this size aren't easy to find.

Excellent quality scale - well worth the few more than the Salter Leaf scale I initially ordered
Had not heard of the Taylor Pro brand - so initially decided to stick to Salter and order their equivalent Lead scale - because it claimed a 15yr warranty. What arrive looked like a £5 toy, was not even that accurate.Decided to take a gamble on this Taylor Pro and pay a few extra quid. Realised later it was part of the KitchenCraft brand.Much better build quality that the Salter - looks and feels like it will last a few years and so far has been incredibly accurate. I had to post several items out over 1 week period - so weighed each item on the TaylorPro and then compared it to the Post Office scales (at different branches). The Taylor Pro reading were consistently within 1% of the Post Office scales. Also, the KitchenCraft customer service is excellent - I was unsure about one behaviour of the scale and their response was excellent.

Evitar!
The media could not be loaded.

stesso oggetto, pesi diverse, tare diverse
