Best of the syrups and tonic waters
I have tried all the bottled tonic waters and many of the syrups and came back to Portland Tonic Syrup for two reasons.1. Only has cinchona bark, sugar and some rose flavor making for a clean, quinine foreword beverage.2. I control the sweetness by how much product I add.Other tonic syrups add a slew of spices, lemon grass, the clippings from the groundskeeper's lawn mower, and they all taste like fairy pee. And the bottled tonic waters are all too sweet, even Q which I was diluting with club soda.I also tried too many gins, only like the juniper foreword brands, and settled , after trying high to reasonable priced one's on a $20.00/ product. Again, too many gins ruin their flavor with their version of 'fairy pee' foo foo ingredients.KEEP IT SIMPLE, ADHERE TO THE FLAVOR PROFILE THAT THE PRODUCT CALLS FOR. Fussy in Pennsylvania

Care for a rose-flavored G & T?
Tried this because of the five star reviews. I assumed the “Rose” in the title is because Portland is the “Rose City.” Never imagined it might be because it tastes like roses. If you like a classic G & T that tastes like juniper, quinine, and citrus (Jack Rudy, Q, Fever Tree), you’ll be seriously disappointed. I couldn’t finish the drink I made with it.

I am so happy I tried this Portland Syrups Rose City tonic.
I am so happy I tried this Portland Syrups Rose City tonic. It has excellent flavor that doesn't overpower the gin or the quinine. I've tried eight other tonic syrups on the market, and this one is quite distinctive and different. This one to me is the perfect compliment to a juniper forward gin. It allows the flavors to come through and has just the right amount of bitterness. It has a touch of something different in it, which I attribute to the floral rose flavor. Very nice. What I don't like is the very spicy tonics like Strong, and El Guapo that taste too clovy and cinammony, which to me is not appropriate for a tonic. I also like Ruby D's citrus tonic, and Jack Rudy's Elderflower Tonic, which are all different and outstanding in their own way. Now I've got three totally different go-to tonics to choose from!

Novel and Refreshing Flavor
Makes a lovely additive to a hot tea. Others complained about the dense rose flavor. I'll admit it was somewhat startling at first, as you do have to fight the sensation that you are about to take a swig out of a perfume bottle, and that doing so is probably a bad idea. But I quickly developed a strong appreciation for the subtle but exotic notes of it. Also refreshing in ice water on a hot summer afternoon. A little flavoring goes a long way. I can't see myself ever being without a bottle of it in the house ever again! It is my new must-have.

Makes a great gin and tonic...
I'm a gin and tonic aficionado who enjoys a refreshing one or two every afternoon. That said, I have used Jack Rudy, and Top Hat East India Tonic Syrup for years; however, recently a friend of mine introduced me to this product, and I absolutely love it.The shipping very was fast. In fact, the product arrived on the Alabama Gulf Coast in three days, but due to a slight shipping mishap, it went to the wrong address, but Dan responded immediately, and was a pleasure to deal with. In addition, the product was packed very well.Nevertheless, It is a little different than other syrups I have used; however, to me it's different in a very pleasant way. That said, I will be ordering this product again.

Strong and distinct flavor, highly recommend
Fantastic flavor, I originally bought it to get quinine in my system as part of a defense against Coronavirus but now I look forward to drinking it 3 times a day.

I discovered I really don't like drinking roses
I thought this product was named after the city I share with the Portland Syrup Company, our beloved Rose City. I thought this product's name was a playful nod to one of our many nicknames. And maybe it was, but it was also a descriptor. I had previously ordered the PSC sampler pack and really enjoyed the flavors (with the exception of the Rose Cordgial.) I somehow missed that this tonic syrup was rose flavored. And I don't enjoy drinking rose flavored things. Over the course of a week, I tried it (with soda water) over and over, hoping the taste would grow on me. It didn't. And the shipment was a two pack :(. Luckily, my wife ran into someone at the local dog park that really enjoys this tonic syrup, so score for them! Seems like a high quality product, but just not for us. I imagine like most Stumptown dwellers, we prefer our roses smelled, not tasted.

Interesting
Unusual and delicate with only a subtle quinine flavor. Goes well with most gins especially if they're not extra dry. I do not find it overpoweringly floral as some others have. If you don't have malaria, and don't want to be punched in the face with quinine, this is good. If you want a classic bitter tonic, there are other options you'll like better.Edit to add: Do refrigerate after opening. Turned pretty nasty after being stored on the bar for months. Says so on the label, so was my mistake.
