Works well! Easy to install
This replacement works fine, but with some caveats. Yes, you have to cut some tape and move the adapter plate yourself. It's easy enough to do and there are videos demonstrating how to do it. So no excuses! If a little tinkering is scary, get the neighbor kid to do it for a few bucks. The problem with the replacement is simply that the original battery in my UPS was a 9Ah and the replacements are only 7.5Ah, or one-sixth less capacity. It will work fine -and honestly, aging batteries in need of replacement have probably lost some capacity anyway. So you most likely won't miss 1.5Ah. Even when fresh, you should never drain the battery so much that you wring every last amp out of it. But the description should be clear, this is a compatible if not an exact replacement.Once that caveat is out of the way, the batteries work fine, fit fine, test fine. All in all, a good replacement.EDIT: An edit, apology and star-change are due. After reviewing my UPS and my purchase more carefully, I have realized I was mistaken about which APC UPS I had. This part is meant for the RS 1500, while mine is actually the XS 1500. These two similar UPS units do indeed use different batteries, which explains why the capacity was different. So, I ordered the wrong item. The capacity issue is my fault, not the seller's, and I apologize for the error that is entirely mine. As a result, I have added a star to the review and changed the subject. The good news is that this battery works fine even in the wrong UPS, although this is probably not a recommended use. It IS working perfectly and there is no reason to send it back. If there's any blame here it might be to APC for coming up with so many confusingly similar model names. ES, RS, XS, 1500 that take small batteries, 1500 that take huge batteries, some are rack mounted, some not.

It's just a battery, but the experience has been good...
What can I say about a replacement battery? It works, and replaces the old, worn 3-year old battery in my RS-800. I'm not having the incessant battery warning alarms from the UPS in the middle of the night anymore... Here are some of my salient observations about this purchase:Kudos to APC for:1. Designing the UPS and battery for very easy, tool-free replacement. The entire process took two minutes.2. Idiot-proof installation. There is only one way to install the battery, and that is the correct way.3. BIG KUDOS for APC's battery recycling program; they included a postage-paid envelope in the box for returning the old battery so that it didn't end up in a landfill somewhere... I dropped the expired battery off at my office's UPS depot, and that was it - no fuss, no hassle.BTW, I've not been an APC fan in years past as I've had three or four APC UPS units fail in the past 15 years, but this RS-800 has been a joy to use and is very reliable (keeps my iMac very well fed). Plus my old battery survived for three years before requiring replacement, which is a very reasonable service life. The free battery recycling program was major icing on this cake. APC appears to have won me back as an enthusiastic customer...

WORKS PERFECTLY IN MY UPS!
I needed to change the battery in my UPS and looked all around for a good replacement. The UPS was reporting "Bad Battery" so it wasn't tough to decide what to do. There are a number of choices out there that all claim to be direct replacements, but some were clearly for a different UPS model than mine. Some didn't have the right connector, and others needed to be wired into the unit. I chose the APC branded battery because I wanted a perfect fit, and reliable backup power for some sensitive electronics. It just wasn't worth it to me to gamble, so I bought the name brand. It came packaged in two boxes, and was delivered quickly. I had the battery replaced in about 5 minutes, and it has worked perfectly since then. My old APC battery lasted over 10 years, so I have similar expectations for this one too. Highly Recommended!!

Reasonable, reliable (so far) APC replacement battery
Never know how long backup batteries will last in UPS unts, so far this one's remaining fully charged, and the price was right. Have purchased expensive APC batteries, as well as 3rd-party replacements. Haven't seen any difference in durability. They all seem to fail after a couple of years of use, especially if they're in warm settings. So far this one seems sound. Fingers are crossed.

Never Purchasing an APC Product Again
I read some of the reviews here about getting faulty replacement batteries, but decided to chance it anyway since most of the reviews were good.My gamble did not pay off.To be clear, I don't know for sure if the replacement battery is bad. Physically, it looks fine. But upon placing it into my APC UPS and allowing it to charge overnight and then putting it online, the UPS sporadically goes off/online. It doesn't indicate the battery needs replacing as it did with the old battery, but it won't stay online. Sometimes it will go 20-30 minutes without a hitch. Then it will cycle offline and immediately come back. Sometimes it's only a few seconds between cycling. Each time this happens it is accompanied by the noise of the unit cycling, which is quite loud and noticeable. At this point, I have given up on APC. I am not going through the hassle of trying to return it and get another replacement, not after seeing how many people have had problems. Fool me once, etc. Also, the time involved to do that is not worth it to me. APC, you win, you get my 60-some dollars. But I will never, ever, ever buy one of your products again. Never. Period.I've purchased a new UPS from another company, which I won't name here so people won't think I'm a shill for some other company. So far, so good. We'll see how it goes with them when I need to replace the battery in this new unit.
